I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 about 3 weeks ago and all of the sudden within the past day or two I have been getting the BSoD at Start-Up and then it shuts itself off. I have read other forums that tell you to open Windows in safe mode, but it won't even let me do that! All it does is tease me by getting to the desktop for maybe 15 seconds and then the blue screen pops up again and I'm back to square one. So, I can't even download the SF Diagnostic Tool in order to get all the information on here that one might need.

What did you install/remove immediately before the problem started?

How did you upgrade the laptop? Did you do an upgrade (Vista installed and you ran the upgrade disc) or did you do a clean install?

I don't recall installing or removing anything recently. I had Vista installed and then ran the upgrade disc.

The problem with that, is that I can't even get into my start up, let alone the internet, before the blue screen pops up and then shuts my comp off.

You don't boot into Windows. You create a bootable device and run it. Please review the link I posted. You will need to use another computer with a stable internet connection and download/create the WDO media.

What does it mean to restart my computer through the program though? That's what I don't understand.

OK, so I was able to run the Windows Defender offline scan (thank you for your help and patience with me on that one) and it didn't find anything wrong. My computer has been running fine for the past few weeks since I did that, but then just yesterday the BSoD came up again! I ran the scan again and it allowed me to access my computer once again but I am afraid it will come back.
