BSOD - Windows 7 x86

I just ran Prime out for a while and Temp1 on SpeedFan went up to 88 degrees C. I almost feel like getting a pan of water and boiling it on my CPU. Haha :)

There seemed to be no errors for it from what I could see, but i'll see if I can run it a little longer before another BSOD.

Also, I'll try stopping those programs on startup as edited in your other post.

Thanks.

Results from the Prime test looked as if they all came back posotive with passes on all the different types of tests after running it for 3 hours or so, but have attached the results .txt file.

With furmark, I can't seem to get into normal loadup and actually run the program for long enough to get a decent result before the system BSODs. Whether or not the BSOD is caused by me trying to use the program or the computer would BSOD anyway (which is more likely), i'm not sure.

When I have been able to run furmark, the FPS varies between 51 and 104 ish and there are no graphical errors in the display when running it. I also have 60+ new BSODs from trying to get my computer running and getting these programs running, that of which I will attacjh to a post for you to look at should you want me to.

Hopefully this information helps you to help me. :)

Thanks again.

Prime test results look good. Thanks for uploading them. I wish I knew if running Furmark was initiating the crashes or if is the computer issue we are trying to find. It does make me suspicious of your graphics adapter. The fact that you had issues prior to installing Win 7 tells me that you have a hardware issue unrelated to Windows. We are down to hardware and you have tested your RAM and your CPU. The Furmark test is questionable. Can you get another graphics card to test on your system or can you test your graphics card in another machine?

The only place I know to go from here is to check the compatibility of all of your hardware and software, though I suspect it is a hardware issue not related to Windows.
To check compatibility of hardware and software use this link:

Windows 7 Compatibility: Software Programs & Hardware Devices: Find Updates, Drivers, & Downloads

If everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) is listed as compatible, then the next most likely thing is broken hardware. To test for that, you'll have to run as many diagnostics as you can get your hands on - and that may still not be enough. Then, you'll have to check for hardware issues using the suggestions at this post: Hardware Troubleshooting Via System Stripdown

Maybe one of the other team members will have another idea or find something I have overlooked. Please do upload your latest dumps.

Oh dear. ):

Firstly I disabled my USB devices via BIOS and now my computer won't even load up at all. ):

It turns on and just before the initial beep and load up screen it turns itself back off again. ):

Anything I can do to resolve this?

Help from anybody is greatly appreciated.

Edit: When I opened up the case, one of the adapters which connects to the devices like the hard drive and the CD rom has broken off completly, so I put it into another slot and restarted. I then tried taking the hard drive out and booting and all was okay except of course I couldn't boot windows.

I've now put the hard drive back in and my monitor is not showing anything, the fan has stopped working and the light on the front to show that the power is on has also stopped working. ):

I don't know if this has been caused by the hard-drive or not, but I can't use the computer at all right now. Hope this information helps.

Edit2: Resolved this, read below. :)

Ok, so removing the fan's power to the motherboard and re-inserting it seemed to get the light and fan working again. Phew :) Now to test other things.

Edit: Performing a test on my harddrive through speedfan comes back with the status 'read failure'. The fitness and Performance look okay as they are both near the top but I don't know what the other things on the screen mean. Hope this helps. :)

Edit: Even with my graphics card out, my USB networking device not connected and all the USB devices that I can have disabled being disabled on the BIOS settings, I'm still getting BSODs from the computer, but after a more delayed period of time. Just got stop message 0x24 I believe. Will try to upload some BSODs for you.

And now the fan and monitor have stopped working again after the system shut down all together on startup. ):

Try a hard drive diagnostic: HD Diagnostic

That may account for the 0x24 error too.

Running the DLGDIAG tool came back with the error message 0120 NO DRIVE FOUND, which from a few google searches, if it persists, they say you should get a new harddrive, but Idk.

Running Chkdsk from cmd on startup yesterday, windows deleted and moved around a few files when checking it and things seem to be a little smoother since then, but i'm still getting the odd BSOD. I'll certainly keep you updated.

Also, does the 0120 error message mean I need to replace it or is there a way around it?

Edit: Harddrive is made by WesternDigital.

Had a day or so of perfect running and now back to constant bsods. Will try and upload latest dumps if I can keep the pc on for long enough. Also as stated in last post, does this mean there is an error with the hard drive? Thanks

If you had trouble running , try an alternate:
2. Locate the support website of the hard drive manufacturer from the following list and download the appropriate file to your computer. FWIW - the first link for each drive usually contains more information/instructions about running the test. If you cannot locate a test for your hard drive - run the Hitachi DFT (for older systems) or the Seagate SeaTools (for newer systems).
Hitachi - Downloads Download this image for CD's: http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/downloads/dft32_v415_b01.iso
Western Digital - I've had issues with running this from a CD/DVD - try the Hitachi DFT (on older/IDE systems) or the Seagate SeaTools (on newer/SATA systems) - WD Support > Downloads > SATA & SAS Download the Diag504fCD.iso file on this page: WD Support > Downloads > Legacy Internal > WD Raptor
I have hosted a zipped copy of the ISO that I use (at work) here: W-D_DLG_504f.zip - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage

I would say your hard drive is suspect; but it could be another hardware problem. Please upload the latest dumps when you can.

The part you have qouted there is the part I originally reffered to. I downloaded the HD diagnostic for my harddrive and it came back with that error. That was when running it on the disk. A while back I managed to keep the computer on for long enough to be able to run the windows version of the test also. After the 2 hour or so full scan, it came back with a fail and then when given the option to repair the bad areas, it once again came up with an error message saying I couldn't, though no specific error code was mentioned from what I can remember.

It seems as though the hard-drive may be the problem, but if it is the problem, do previous BSODs make sense as to it being the problem?

I'll also try and upload new BSODs, but can't seem to keep the computer on for long enough at the moment to copy them over.

If two different tests showed errors or fail, I would have to put the hard drive high on the list of suspects. A failing hard drive could well trigger some of the previous error codes, especially those that show memory corruption. However, some of your error codes specifically refered to driver problems and you definitely had some obsolete drivers.

I see. Should I back up my files from the harddrive and format it and clean install windows? Or does it mean that it's completly broken?

A hard drive going bad does not get better; it only gets worse. As sectors start going bad, you will get file errors, corrupted files, an application gets corrupted etc. If the sectors storing the Windows OS fail, all of a sudden you won't be able to boot or get a full boot. That is what happened when my hard drive failed. Baking up your files routinely is good idea; if you think your hard drive is failing definitely back them up. I back mine up once a week routinely. To be more accurate, I image my hard drive weekly using Macrium Reflect (free).

Unfortunately, I can't see your computer and know what your hard drive is doing. But to answer your question, Yes, back up your data. A reformat will not "fix" your hard drive. It may work around the bad sectors and make the drive usable - until more sectors fail. If I had to make that decision for my computer and I was pretty certain my hard drive was going bad, I would copy my data to another drive such as a USB external drive. I would then install a new hard drive, install Windows and copy my data back. On my new drive, I would create a data partition separate from the OS partition and put my data there.
