Hi Guys, my comp has blue screened at-least 2 times a day pretty solid from just watching movies to playing games. It dosent mater what task I am doing it blue screens on everything. It even blue screened when I pushed the shut down button once lol. Im thinking there is a conflict between hardware or software or both.

Here is the zip from DM log collector.

View attachment 343576

It appears AMD has this new omega driver. Anyone have any experience with that? They say my card (ATI 7870) is compatible.

Edit: After reading some reviews maybe I don't want this new driver. They said it had tons of bug fixes if only you could get it to install.

Things are definitely pointing to your graphics driver,

It's over a year old too,

There are a few versions between the latest and what you have installed,

Previous

The 13.12, 14.4, 14.9, you could try one of those if you don't want to try the 14.12 (Latest).

Try doing a clean install of the drivers,

How-To Uninstall AMD Catalyst Drivers From A Windows Based System

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/83814-drivers-clean-left-over-files-after-uninstalling.html

I notice you are pretty light on windows updates too, I see only 90 installed, you should have a lot more than that, I would get those installed too.

Ill admit I have tried 14.4 already and it still caused BSOD's but Im glad there is a 14.9 to try. I think I will try the 14.12 as they claim high amounts of bug fixes. If it dosent work I will give 14.9 a shot.
Thanks

Hey guys. Latest driver up and running and it seems to work alright. However, I got a strange blue screen this where the screen went black with no error. I think it has to do with NTOSKRNL.sys this time but I am unsure. Here is the latest dump.
I do think we made progress but there may be more than one thing crashing my comp.
Thanks

edit: Oops forgot the zip file :o

p.s. Ill try to get to the updates but there is one that causes trouble with the new GFX driver Installed so I will need to look up that one first

I looked up on the internet and apparently there have been some bad 7870's going around giving a black screen every now and then. Apparently they used bad capacitors or something. Is there any way to test weather or not my card is one of those or not?

Thanks

Hey I sent an e-mail to power color and this is there reply
Dear User,

Please try check below points to clarify problem:
1. Please check your card has bow board problem or not. Please refer attached picture.

(all this was referring to was if I connected my two power cables correctly) Correct

2. Please try updating MB BIOS to the newest. Haven't done this. Is it relavent?

3. Please check your ATX power supply, the HD7870 needs a 750 watt or better power supply with two 6-pin PCIe power connectors. Certified power supplies are strongly recommended; for a list of certified power supplies, please see Recommended Power Supplies
I dont have a 750w as I that power consumption should only be for crossfiring witch I am not doing.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/recommended/power-supplies
4. Please check if your thermal system is good airflow for it. I would suggest you to have at least 2 fans in your PC, one in the front that will suck air in, the other one put in the back which will blow air out.
This is good. My case is currently an open system where it can have unlimited air flow. If it needs extra I get a box fan! ;)

5. Please use display driver uninstaller to remove all previous graphic card drivers. http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/
I did this.

http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/
6. Check all system drivers, update them to the newest WHQL version if website has new version. Please try download this driver : http://support.amd.com/en-us/download (Please don’t use 14.9 WHQL driver, please try installing 14.4 WHQL or previous version WHQL driver or beta driver.)
I have tried 13.9 14.4 14.9 and 14.12. So this not the problem.

7. Please try doing Virus and Trojan scan to check system is healthy or not.
My system is clean.

8. Clean up your profile: Whenever you install a program, will move into the system profile but will become more and more cumbersome. Internet has provided many free cleanup programs. CCleaner is the current general common Windows login key cleanup program. Download link: CCleaner - Standard
CCleaner is a good program :) But I fail to see how it is relevant to graphics cards?

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
9. If possible, please do a fresh OS installing with all needs drivers and without other software. Using clean system to check problem will be occurred or not.
When I got my vid card my comp was a fresh install.

10. If possible, please try plugging this card in another system to check problem.
Don't really have access to another computer that uses PCI-E. All other computers are laptops.

11. If the issue still exists, please do a RMA service that send graphic card back to check problem.
:cry::cry::cry:

I suppose I could do a RMA but before I do might the BIOS version have anything to do with this?

I admit that I have not updated my bios for years and this card is quite a bit newer than the bios.

P.S. I am not UIFI I am legacy bios.
Thanks

Well, according to your system info you have the latest BIOS,

Code:
BIOS Version/Date	American Megatrends Inc. [B][COLOR="Red"]2104[/COLOR][/B], 8/13/2010

Which is the latest version available here,

Motherboards - M4A785TD-M EVO - ASUS

Your latest dump is a BCC124,

Code:
BugCheck 124, {0, fffffa80062fb8f8, 0, 0}

Probably caused by : hardware

Followup: MachineOwner

These are some things to try,

http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html

You can try testing your card with this,

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

Or you may just want to RMA.
