Hello,

its been about 2 weeks now i'm looking for the problem of this but i can't seem to find any , i even posted on techspot.com , they tried a lot but no final solution.

the problem started when i changed my VGA from Geforce 8600 to Geforce 9400. i got BSOD playing games , surfing internet , working with office etc . the 9400 seemed very buggy and i thought it was a hardware problem , so i bought a Asus 250GTS just yesterday but the BSOD keep coming ( less than before) with error codes of 124 and 1e and 3b.

i noticed in this forum that you can tell what driver or application causes the crash , so i attached the dump files.

it would be really fantastic if you could help me.

Well you have three basic problems. Memory, hardware, and system files

memory. download memtestx86, burn it to cd, and run it for at least 7 passes

Hardware-(may just be memory) use these instructions to find out what it means and what to try. http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-2-int-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html

system files--run a system file check to verify and repair system files.
(type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow)

let us know if you need help with these

Ken

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

Stop error 0x124 is a hardware error. Please be sure to read this article: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-2-int-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 passes.Try this free stress test: Free Software - GIMPS
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight you may want to run the "Small FFTs" test instead.
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.
Update these old drivers:
Code:
AsIO.sys Mon Dec 17 04:11:49 2007
asusgsb.sys Thu Sep 27 09:14:50 2007 - ASUS Virtual Video Capture Device Driver
ATKDispLowFilter.sys Tue May 13 23:03:13 2008 -ASUSTeK Display Lower Filter
VSTBS26.SYS Wed Oct 15 20:54:06 2008 -Modem drivers
VSTCNXT6.SYS Wed Oct 15 20:52:22 2008 -Modem drivers
VSTDPV6.SYS Wed Oct 15 20:57:45 2008 -Modem drivers
zntport.sys Sat Dec 22 03:35:56 2007 -NTPort Library for Windows 2000/NT
Kaspersky needs to be removed! Please run this removal tool: http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/kavremover10.zip

From now on, use the built-in Windows Firewall, and Microsoft Security Essentials.

Guess what ! i fixed it , i actually reinstalled windows and that fixed the problem.

i think it had to do with windows files including Directx and not the drivers.
i installed the all the drivers that were suspected for the crash , including that daemon tools , kaspersky , asus drivers etc and still no crash so i think it was windows its self.

thanks for the help anyway

the only possible cure

I recently purchased my laptop, a Dell E6520, and for the first day or so all was well, however then i find that the PC had crashed, re-booted then i saw the error message error code 3b. I thought for a minute then realised with this code the memory, video card etc have been blamed for the error and tried all the methods to fix the issue without any success then i thought that the only other possibility was corruption of some files by some way or another, then I set about re-installing the OS to verify my theory and it worked, since the re-installation i have had no Blue screen issues.:D
