BSOD with STOP 0X0000007A

Hi,
For the last few weeks I've been getting intermittent BSODs. Usually I'm using Media Center over my XBOX 360, but not always. I've attached the debug files as instructed.
My system:
Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1
Retail version
ASUS P7P55D LE Motherboard
Intel i7 CPU
SSD drive for C:, OCZ Agility 3, 120 GB, SATA 3
Several HDDs
PC components about 1 year old, except for the SSD which is about 3 months old. I can't be certain, but these BSODs may have started after the SSD was installed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and Happy New Year!

No DMP files included in the upload please try this method.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Thanks for taking the time to look. I thought the minidump files were already there, sorry.
I'm not overclocking at all.
My config already tells Windows to put the dmp files in C:\windows\minidump. But when I look there, there are only 2 old files, (both are attached in a zip file and both are larger than 256 kB). I have the feeling that minindump files are NOT being created after my BSODs, maybe because they're too big and go past the 256 kB limit?
Should I set it to give me Kernel memory dumps instead?
Let me know what else you need.

Hi guys.
My system is not generating any dmp files when it crashes.
I checked the settings and everything is OK to create dmp files in c:\windows\minidump.
I just checked to make sure the paging file was still set for C:, and it is. I added another much larger paging file on another HDD (C: is my SSD and allocating space for a seldom used paging file is not something I want to do).
Now we just have to wait for another BSOD to see if I get a dmp file.
I got Blue Screen Viewer and looked at the 2 old dmp files that I posted yesterday (see post above) and they have nothing to do with the current problem. They were related to a disk problem that has been resolved, before I installed my SSD.
In the meantime if someone knows why I'm not getting dmp files, please let me know.
Sorry to have screwed up this post so much. :o

Two issues


Symantec, and your jraid driver.



I do notice Symantec which is a frequent cause of BSOD's. I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

I would re-install the raid driver with the newest version available.



How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

Thanks zizag.
The JMB drivers are the latest version. But as I said those dmp files are from earlier BSODs which gave different errors. Current error is Kernel_Data_Input_Error, STOP 0X0000007A, but no dmp file is created.
As for Norton, will follow your advice.
I'll let you know what happens.
