BSOD with USB driver

I have been experiencing the BSOD recently, every week or two. I traced the problem to a usb driver, though I am so new to Windows 7 that I am not sure how to track down which one is causing the problem. The BSOD message mentions etronc.sys, assuming I have the spelling correct on the file name.

I have a home built computer, with a gigabyte motherboard, GA-A75-D3H, and an amd cpu, AMD A6-3500 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 2100 Mhz, 3 Core(s), 3 Logical Processor(s). 4 GB of ram, Windows 7 home premium, 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601. Upgraded from Windows XP just before Thanksgiving 2011. 500GB SATA drive. The culprit is supposed to be the Etron USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller, IRQ 4294967294.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. I think my motherboard is about 2-3 years old. Bought the cpu and memory along with the motherboard. The DVD writer is only about 1-2 months old.

I forgot to mention that my HP photosmart 5515 printer goes into sleep mode within a few minutes, so that may be why the status html says it is disabled. Also, I am using microsoft security essentials as my antivirus program. Not sure why that was not identified as such.

I downloaded and installed the updated usb driver, but I had another BSOD incident within the last two days. I was really hoping that the updated driver would fix the problem, but the screen indicated the same driver as the problem once again.

I was originally thinking about finding another usb driver to replace the one I have, before you indicated updating the present driver. I am not really sure what else to do at this point. I am much more familiar with Windows XP than I am Windows 7.

The interesting thing is that the website indicates the updated driver as version 1.0.0.104, dated 05/28/2012, but my system says version 1.0.0.104, dated 7/25/2011. I don't know if that matters or not, but it seems to me the driver dates should match, unless there is a typo on the website.

P.S. I just downloaded, installed and used driver agent, and it directed me to a website where I found an even more up to date version of my usb driver. I have just downloaded and installed this more recent version, and I will wait and see if that fixes my problem with the BSOD.

Unfortunately, when I got home this afternoon, 7/19/12, I saw the BSOD on my computer screen once again. I think I am ready to find and install another usb driver from another company. It used to be about a week or more between BSODs, but now it is less than a week between them.

By the way, this BSOD problem has not been happening until the last few months. Everything was doing fairly well, and then this happened. I suspect that I installed a new usb device and that brought the present driver to my computer. The only major new device has been an HP Photosmart 5515 printer, which I mentioned earlier, that uses a usb connection.

Any other recommendations?

For the USB problems...

• Start with http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/165554-usb-driver-general-fix-problems.html to resolve the USB issues. Also, USB ports can sometimes enter a safe power state to protect the system from power surges due to USB devices. To reset the USB ports to a nominal power state:
  
  1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
  2. Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
  3. "Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
     cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
  4. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
     power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
     and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
  5. (If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
     and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
  6. Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

I uninstalled all of the usb drivers under the usb section of the device manager, and lost the use of my usb mouse. I finally had to use another port for the mouse, as the original usb mouse port is not working right now. I am not sure how to reenable this usb port again, without potentially losing the use of other usb ports.
