Hello experts,

I'm having a issue with my Dell XPS 15 (L502X) laptop. When I'm working, surfing, or doing anything normal in the laptop, suddenly at random times, the system crashes, but it doesn't give me inmediatly the BSOD, instead it's like the programs start shutting down (first explorer.exe, I guess because the windows taskbar dissapears), then the browser closes, then my sticky notes stop working, and then PLOP, BSOD with no useful information.

Sometimes when apps are closing, tells me "The requiered data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status 0x.....", that makes me think about HDD problem, but i'm not sure. A virus could be the problem, but i ran a Panda Cloud Scan, and trhow nothing...

Well, thanks in advance for your help, I attached everything is asked for here.

Cheers!

Hi Sorro.

Do some Disc checks.

  • Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
  • As you have the SATA mode set to AHCI, it is suggested that you switch the mode to IDE/SATA and then perform the test. Because DOS cannot recognize AHCI, and it may not detect any disc to test.
    • When the test is done, boot into BIOS again and set the storrage controller mode back to AHCI again, otherwise windows will refuse to boot.
Let us know the results.

Thanks Arc,

I did the tests...and well, unfortunately there are problems with my HDD. I'm starting backups right now. Is there any way I can fix the problem without replacing it?

Thanks..
