Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Original OS, came pre-intalled
Owned this laptop for about 3 weeks, same installation as when purchased

BSOD occurs 1-10 times a day, not correlated with any particular application I'm using (that I'm aware of). I've updated all of the drivers from the manufacturer's website (Lenovo), as well as installed MS Windows updates. BSODs sometimes decrease in frequency after such drivers/Windows updates but then reoccur.

Including the zipped files requested, but could not complete a perfmon /report (error).

Thank you in advance for any help!!!

Several problems here

1-sptd.sys
Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.

2- Multiple Anti virus apps remove them all and replace with Microsoft security essentials. You have avast, zone alarm, and remnants of another.

http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

3- old drivers needing update

Code:
SMIEXP.SYS 1/16/2008 5:06:19 0x478dd71b fffff880`0249b000 fffff880`0274e000 0x002b3000

How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

Hi Ken,

Whoops, just realized I did a "quick reply" instead of "post reply" and that's why it hasn't turned up yet.

I completed steps 1 and 2, but not 3 (identified driver as related to Lenovo webcam, downloaded the newest version from Lenovo website, and upon trying to install it it informs me that the current version is the most up-to-date already -- should I go ahead and uninstall the current one, and install the one I just downloaded?)

I'm not familiar with the Microsoft Security Essentials. Does it have a feature as in Zone Alarm that alerts me to programs trying to connect to the network/internet and allows me to accept or deny access to the program?

Thanks again.

If you can't find newer drivers for the webcam, disable it in Device Manager.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a very lightweight program; it does not comes with all the bells and whistles, just a solid anti-malware base engine. It also does not include a firewall, though when you install it, it will ask you to allow it to enable the Windows Firewall.

The Windows Firewall also does not come with all the frills; it either blocks or allows.
