Hi,

I have attached my minidump file. Can anyone please help me figure out what is causing the multiple BSOD. It all began when I attempted to use a bluetooth dongle which I have since removed and removed all software for (well at least I think I have). Since then it is Ok for a while (days) then will crash many times in a day.

Thanks.

This one was very straight forward ...Memory corruption... Download memtest86 and let it run overnight for at least 5 passes... Post your results...

thanks! I am not very technical - the computer has a raid 5 set-up and also a solid state drive. Can I run the memtest86 on it?

Yes.. your Raid array will not pose any problem... download the ISO image and burn it as an image file ... boot from the disc and let it do its thing... Let us know if you have any problems.. :)

As its name suggests, memtest only tests your actual memory, that is your RAM. It does not touch your HDDs or SSDs - there are other programs available that can test these.

Thanks for the replies. I am having trouble downloading and saving memtest86 to cd but will figure it out Im sure. The computer has 12 gb of RAM (4 sticks of 3GB) - I noticed Memtest says to use with 4Gb or less - is this per stick or in total?

Here's some more analysis on your dmps.

Update these old drivers or their respective programs.

How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

If Memtest checks back clean after 5+ passes, follow these instructions for enabling driver verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...-driver-verifier-identify-issues-drivers.html

How do you know the drivers have not been updated?

Go ahead and do the memory test as recommended above. If you get any more dmps, please upload them.

I cannot find where to update the following drivers. Can anyone point me to the correct location?
adfs.SYS - aside from knowing it is an adobe file Im unsure (I have photoshop/bridge on the PC)
windrvr6.sys - I believe this is something to do with the UPS (Eaton 5110 UPS)

Thanks again.

Rather than update the drivers for that one, try updating the program itself. Update anything Adobe related.

I have done 8 passes of Memtest+86 - all ok.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Spyder and all Adobe products.

I have had a BSOD since. I would appreciate it if someone could give me any extra advice. The last BSOD was after I reinstalled Spyder.

Avast was running at the time of the crash. I would therefore uninstall it, and install a fresh copy. Or you can use a good free alternative, Microsoft Security Essentials.

I have done 8 passes of Memtest+86 - all ok.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Spyder and all Adobe products.

I have had a BSOD since. I would appreciate it if someone could give me any extra advice. The last BSOD was after I reinstalled Spyder.

After you reinstalled Spyder, you again have an obsolete 2007 driver.

So how can I stop the obsolete drivers happening? I am downloading the latest versions of the software from the manufacturers sites.

Thanks!

That suggests the programmers have not updated their software for Windows 7. I recommend that you uninstall Sypder and find a substitute program compatible with Win 7. Obsolete drivers simply do not play well with Win 7.

More BSOD - I cant do the sfc /scannow as it triggers a BSOD. I tried repairing windows install and it locked up the whole system and wouldnt boot. System restore wouldnt work either - it hung.
I have managed to use the windows disk to repair startup so I am back on computer but I dont know what to do now.
Any ideas??

Time for a clean install. You can do a custom installation if you like, to save your data.

A custom installation differs from a clean install in that in a clean install, you format the partition. In a custom install, you install right on top.

Thanks jonathan - just before I do that - I have all my software on a solid state drive and all data is on a seperate raid array with a raid controller - will the install affect the raid - or just my SSD?
