BSOD

Earlier this year, I had to replace my motherboard because the onboard sound stopped working. I replaced it with the same model, and reinstalled Windows 7. Since then, I've been having issues with the computer. I have been getting BSOD errors frequently, especially when playing games. I've been trying to get help from techsupportforum.com, but I thought there might be other experts here that could help me, so I decided to ask for help here.

After trying to fix the problems for a while with no success, I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7 last week. It worked fine for about a day, then crashed. After that, it worked fine for almost a week, until it crashed again last night. The dump files are attached.

I am running BIOS version 2001, and the only settings I have changed are to turn off the eSATA controller and to set the RAM voltage to the manufacturer's specification.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Based upon your dump reports the BSOD was caused by a realtek NIC Driver. You should replace the driver and check for any other outdated drivers that may have contributed or will cause problems in the future.

you MAY be able to obtain a new driver from this source
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=7&PFid=10&Level=3&Conn=2

Let us know the results.

So that means it is probably caused by rt64win7.sys, which is the Realtec driver, correct? I'll see if updating that fixes the issue.

I updated the Realtek drivers by having windows automatically find them from the device manager. After this, the computer has crashed two times. After the second crash, it took me 3 tries to successfully boot to windows. For some reason, only two dump files were created from all of these crashes.

Try getting it from the website. If you still have problems I will check the new dumps tomorrow morning, unless someone beats me to it.

Should I download the AiSuite he linked to in that post? Asus does support Windows 7 for my motherboard, so should I get the AiSuite for my motherboard instead?

In the hour or so that I've been running Driver Verifier, it's crashed 3 times. These have all been while playing a game, which seems to make it much more likely to crash. However, instead of going to the blue screen and restarting, it just freezes and the screen gets very distorted, and I have to manually turn the computer off and on. It does not produce a dump log when this happens. Is there anything I can do to make it more likely to produce a log? In the meantime, I'll keep trying to get a normal BSOD with verifier.

It crashed while not in a game, and it went to the BSOD and restarted normally. It crashed two times trying to start up again after that, but it only produced one dump file from all of these. I turned driver verifier off now, let me know if I should turn it back on.

I have to suspect hardware, probably video card. Do you have another card you can try?

Try uninstalling your current graphics drivers, and install a fresh copy.

You may also want to test RAM. Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Later tonight I'll find out if there's another video card I can test. Do you think it might be the motherboard, because these problems all started after putting in a new motherboard?

I reinstalled the display driver. Then, I turned on verifier to test it. It crashed after about 10 minutes. I'm attaching the dump in case it somehow has some info the last ones didn't. I thought that more frequent crashes with driver verifier turned on indicated it was a software issue, and not a hardware issue. I guess I was mistaken.

I don't have an extra video card that I can test with unfortunately. Once I hear back from you, I think I'm going to call AMD and see if they will send me a new motherboard, because all of this started when I put in the new motherboard they sent me.

I really appreciate all of your help.
