Hi all,

I've been having constant trouble over a number of years to get my gaming machine stable, but have been sent around in circles with bluescreens, troubleshooting and endless attempts of possible fixes and solutions.

Is Windows 7 Ultimate
- x64
- Full retail version
- System age is 2 years
- OS install is recent

Small list of troubleshooting attempts/BSODS caused:
Sound/ATI latest drivers installed,
BSOD: ataport.sys STOP: 0x0000001E
Safe mode, Driver Sweeper - removed ATI drivers
BSOD: "A thread tried to release a resourse it did not own" STOP: 0x000000E3
BIOS Updated to latest
RAM Underclocked, paired RAM slots tested, Single RAM module tested in each of 4 slots, Installed ASUS GFX Drivers,
BSOD: "Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area" STOP: 0x00000050
BSOD: "System_Service_Exception" STOP: 0x0000003B
BSOD: "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" STOP: 0x000000A
Windows fully updated, RAM timings set as per manufacturer spec, also tried underclocked.
BSOD: STOP: 0x0000001E
BSOD: atikmdag.sys
BSOD: "Memory_Management" STOP
BSOD: "Page_Fault" aswsp.sys STOP: 0x00000050

etc, etc, etc.

Thanks for your time, any help or advice would be extremely helpfull!
Dan.

Seems you have a high performance mouse or game stick that's running on a older driver if it's a steelseries like I think it is you should be able to track down newer drivers here.
http://www.steelseries.com/download

Seperately you're also loading a razer driver so here's that link
Razer Support

your also using the asus probe utility, I have seen this cause bsod's in the past
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download or you may want to see if you can update it at least.

Anyhow you were on the right track it's definitely looking driver related.

Code:
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000000, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 0000000000000000, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: 0000000000000000, Parameter 0 of the exception
Arg4: 0000000000000000, Parameter 1 of the exception

Thanks for the quick response! Very kind of you.

Hmm, I don't have a steel series mouse, can you tell me what pointed you to that theory please?
I just use a Razer mouse, I'm currently updating it's driver, so i'll see how that goes.
Also, what pointed you towards Asus Probe? I thought I had successfully removed that, as I too found it to cause problems.

Thanks a lot, Dan.

lead me to believe you were operating a steelseries device, as the driver is known to be used with them. Though it's possible the driver is also connected with the razer as the two companies use the same components.

Just for the record pretty much every driver dated before late 08 early 09 are not windows 7 drivers. It's pretty much that simple.
(even most the 08 ones are just updated vista drivers)

Ahh I see, well the Ideazon ZBoard should be fine, as that's my keyboard driver I hope! :)

I'll check into ASACPI.sys and the probe driver, thanks for the help, any idea of the probe driver name or location?

regards,
Dan.

Thanks a lot for checking Maguscreed, however I'm not sure where/how I can unload those drivers manually, since I don't have Asus Probe or Asus AISuite installed. Is there a straightforward manual way or should I install Asus Probe/Asus AISuite just to see if they will remove those files?

Well let's see if you continue to crash, there's no reason to go digging for them.
In fact now that you have handled those drivers if you get another bsod, please upload the new dump file created by it.

This time it was the ati driver pack again.
Let's do this, boot safe mode with networking and use driver sweeper Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper
to remove the ati driver and catalyst control center.
Then download and install the latest driver again.
ATI Radeon

Code:
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff800034f002e, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: fffff88005d38fe8, Exception Record Address
Arg4: fffff88005d38850, Context Record Address

The last step I took before the latest minidump was use Driver Sweeper and re-install the latest ATI drivers, should i do that again? what are you looking for?

EDIT: BSOD/Minidump created before doing what you suggested: "Bad_Pool_Header" STOP: 0x00000019

I don't say this very often but I'm running out of ideals on this one. I'm going to have another dump file reader come and take a look perhaps a fresh set of eyes will see something I'm missing.

A fresh set of eyes may well help, thanks :)

I've been doing this for 2 years, sometimes it suddenly becomes stable, but I never find out why because I've tried so many things :(

Please remove the following.

1-ASACPI.SYS a major cause of BSOD's in the 2005 rev.

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

2-SPTD.SYS the second biggest cause used by daemon tools and alcohol120

Remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done:DuplexSecure - Downloads

You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.

Hi Zigzag, I've now removed/moved/renamed all SPTD.SYS files and used the sptd uninstaller and also updated the asacpi.sys with a 2009 copy, however i still was presented with another BSOD; minidump attached.

Hopefully we're getting closer to the answer, thanks :)
