Hello everyone,

Well i got my laptop back from gateway's factory or wherever they fix it. Long story short, I bought the NV5909 just 45 days ago and 13 days ago the hard drive failed (just fell short of 30 day refund policy:mad:) . Sent it into gateway for repair and they said they replaced the HDD.

First thing I did was uninstall all bloatware and changed some minor system settings like mouse speed, etc. I didn't install any software or hardware drivers or make any major changes. During that time which was approx 2 hours of uninstalling stuff, the computer did not crash. Then after making a bootable ISO, I began to install software and other things but again no hardware changes. Thats when this started. It maybe related to wireless issues because I noticed that in safemode with networking the wireless internet is perfect but in regular windows, I have to disconnect/reconnect to the network multiple times in order for internet to work. Usually only google works, then step by step with each disconnect/reconnect other websites start to work.\

I have done a chkdsk test and no problems. As of writing this post, I will run memtest.

Help!

couple things i forgot..

gateway laptop 5909
intel i3 330M processor
4gb ddr3 ram
ati 5650 GPU
windows 7 64bit

When it crashes, there isn't any actual blue screen but the screen looks scrambled and multicolored for a millisecond, turns to black and then restarts on its own.

I ran memtest up to 103%. Still not sure what the problem could be as the test did not reveal any issues on my ram. Can anyone take a look at the files I uploaded? Is there anything else I can do?

Hello Welcome to SF !!

The Dump files is blaming some core Windows dll file that might not be the actual problem. Follow this link and Run Memory Diagnostic (Not the one in Windows) and HD Diagnostic then if your using a Security Software uninstall it completely and see whether that makes any difference. Because of the the Kernal Operations has interpted that cause to crash. If that didn't fix then we might need to run Driver Verifier. Post us back the result then we will give instructions how to run Driver Verifier !

Code:
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000000, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 0000000000000000, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: 0000000000000000, Parameter 0 of the exception
Arg4: 0000000000000000, Parameter 1 of the exception

ok. I had also partially installed MSE but it crashed and it wasn't working. A couple of BSODs ocurred before i installed the antivirus software so idunno if that's the issue. Since it was a corrupted install I just deleted the files by a manual search. However, there were 2 dll files that were still running in memory. I will address those after I run some of these tests.

Firewall / Antivirus are just a possibility !! But let the MemTest go on let see how it turns out. Follow this link to remove MSE completely How to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials

ok I ran HD diagnostic and spc /scannow but both came back negative. Couldn't run memtest 86+ v4.00 off a bootable cd. For some reason it kept crashing as soon as it began. Is there another version I could run? I tried to use the one here Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool.

Anything else I could do?

memtest86+ is the memory test to use.

Run 1 stick at a time and alternate the slots.

If memtest crashes, go on to the next stick or place the current one being tested in a different slot.

ok I did that that version of memtest and it came back negative. Also I did the version that works in windows from MemTest: RAM reliability tester for Windows for 102% already. Both results did not indicate memory was the problem. This computer is brand new and not refurbished, bought 45days ago. Memory could be a possibility but I think its something else. Well, I contacted gateway and they said they would send a different factory image disks. I'll give that a go. If that doesn't work, t hen I'll have to figure out how to run memtest86.
