Hello world,

I am experiencing an annoying BSOD, error 0x116 with the atikmpag, sys file suspected (took a photo of the screen, attached it here). At first, i only had them once per week, or less, only while playing big, demanding games (i.e. Skyrim, Star citizen) about a month ago. Now, they occur even while watching a youtube video. It happens like this : I'm watching the video, everythings fine. Then, the sounds starts to flicker, one second there's sound, the other there's none. And, depending on how demanding it is, the BSOD happens 5 to 20 seconds after.

I recently reset my computer, because i wanted to do one anyway (and i hoped it would fix the BSOD) but right when i finish installing all the drivers and software, i watched a youtube video, and I BSOD instantly, on a clean windows installation.

I ran a MemTest to see if its the memory, fortunately it is not. After some research i found out it's about my GPU and the drivers, i hope it's the drivers and not the card itself.

Now i driver sweeped the drivers, running on the cpu graphics (not overclocked anymore), and deactivated my secondary monitor. I thought that i could at least watch some multimedia on that until i fixed it, but right then, while writing this, my music on youtube started flickering again. I closed the tab promptly.

P.S. Sorry if some files are in french, just ask and i'll try to translate as best as i can with my mediocre english. Also, sorry for the non-perfect english

Unfortunately the zip package has not dump in it.

Check System Properties -> Advance tab -> Startup and Recovery [Settings] button
Under System failure
select small memory dump
make sure the directory is %SystemRoot%\Minidump

If everything looks good, press [OK]

Then run the DM collector again - thanks.
Did you follow the instructions on the screen?
Use the image you posted as a guide.

and see if you can boot to safe mode.

Well i've been avoiding BSODs for about 3 or 4 days now, running on processor graphics, with low resolution and not demanding much so i'll force a BSOD and see if the dump is created. And yes i was following the option one.

Thank you for your patience, i am not very experienced in this field, even though i find it very exciting.

Ok, i tried to force a BSOD but i cannot for some reason. I reinstalled the amd drivers, and played star citizen, which usually gave me a BSOD withing seconds of being in-game. I've played for five good minutes, very fluently with the very high graphics settings. After that, my screen just started flashing black, like it was going to shut down but it never did.

Xelluto,

It sounds as though your system might have settled down, at least for a while.

Another member reviewed the data you posted and noted that you are not running Windows 7 SP1.
The Service Pack (SP) is normally delivered though Windows Update.
Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Please review your Windows Update (WU) settings, if they are not automatic, then you have to run WU manually.
The first image under step 3 is how most systems configure WU.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2797-windows-update-settings-change.html

If the option is not Install Updates Automatically (recommended). then you must manually check for updates and install them.
Launch Windows Update, check for updates and accept everything offered
-repeat checking for updates until nothing is offered. That will bring you system up-to-date.

That might help the BSOD issue - it certainly eliminates an outdated system as the cause.

Mhhh yes it's normal that the service pack wasn't installed ; I reinstalled Windows 3 days ago. It is now installed, that and 180+ other Windows updates.

I won't mark this thread as solved since i have the impression that the BSODs or other problems will come back, but thank you for your help and advices.

Good, an up-to-date system will certainly help determine the cause if another BSOD occurs.
If one does, please collect the information with the DM log collector and attach it to a post.

Yes, leave the thread unsolved for a week or two and see how your system operates.
