I have been getting a BSOD that states I should check my memory and video adapter or any newly added hardware or software. I haven't added anything new and I ran the memory diagnostic tool and it came back clean. I've also tried flashing the BIOS and I still get the crash. Event viewer shows the following:

Before we can investigate the underlying cause you need to update this driver. Yours is from 2005

Asacpi.sys

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: Asus tek computer inc. -support- drivers and download p7p55d le

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5K-VM

Scroll down to the utilities category, then scroll down to the "atk0110 driver for windowsxp/vista/windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).

Download and install it.

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the asacpi.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (not before).

Thank you for the response. I have updated the drivers and it now reads 2009 on the time stamp. Is there anything else you need from me?

Thanks!

Also if you could please tell me what I need to open up those memory dump files to read them that would be a great help as well. Opening them up with notepad just shows me a bunch of gobble-dee-gook.

Thanks!

If you stopped crashing no. If you still are upload the DMP files.

The DMP files are opened with WinDeBugger. You need it and the symbols for what ever OS you wish to look at.

There is a steep learning curve.

Well the crashes were infrequent so it may be a week until I know for sure it has stopped. I know that a couple of days max would go by before it happened again. Thank you for your help!
