BSOD's suddenly occurring very frequently, errors 0x00000024, 4a, 1b

I didn't say Windows memory checker, it is very poor.

So it took memtest all of 10 minutes to find an error. My RAM was mostly undone by test #9, random number sequence!

This might explain why sometimes my pc survived 10 hours, and sometimes survived less than 10 mins before a BSOD...

I'm going to go through the procedure to work out which stick(s), slot(s) it is.

Does it matter which slot the remaining stick is in? I was going to take out the 'second' one initially, as the failing addresses are all around 4190 - 4220 MB.

you will need to test each stick of RAM in each slot, it won't matter which you start with. The goal is to determine if the RAM or the slot is bad.

I would like to thank everyone in this thread who has given me advice. I know to you guys it's all very standard procedure, but it really helps those of us who's first action is to panic on seeing a BSOD.

I now no longer panic when I see one :-)

Thanks to all of you,
Ben
