still working through the various tasks, updating the video card driver certainly alleviated a majority of the BSOD's, some of the suggested fixes or checks have to be implemented overnights (Memtest86, checking the 2 terabyte HDD), I also want to jump onto some ASUS support forums and see if there is an optimal arrangement for connecting the SSd, HDD, and optical drives to the MoBo. There are 6 possible ports on the board, I'm wondering if there are some better than others. I also have to go buy new SATA cables to switch them out one by one.

I can help with the connections, have a look at the snip below. I would set them all to AHCI mode in BIOS.

Whoa, I'm just a guy who tries to help.
The connection plan will help you get the best performance but may not effect the BSOD issue. While Buying SATA cables there have been tests done by, Maximum PC, PC World, and others who found they are all the same regarding performance, don't pay extra for some SuperCool Sata6GBs cables when a $3 one will work as well.

update: have not yet switched cables, but everything is running smoothly, no bsod's in 3 days of (almost) constant use

ok, I knew that posting that would result in a bsod, and of course I was right

we enabled Windows Search last night, just fyi-- otherwise all the suggested changes have been implemented

As per the data you uploaded, the last BSOD took place on 24th

Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

wait, I wasn't in front of the computer so I didn't witness it, you're saying there isn't a record of a critical stop from just a little while ago? That's interesting, I will ask my son exactly what happened

edit: he didn't allow for the dump file to finish compiling before he restarted, he knows now to wait till it gets to 100%

There have been no BSOD's since my last post, crazy are the ways of Hobbits & BSOD's, e.g., I'm not exactly how we cured it but it seems the worst is behind us. I will go ahead and call this one 'solved' and thank you so much for the great help

The latest BSOD as per the uploaded zip is of 07/11. No meaningful inference can be drawn based on such an old dump, because things changed a lot during this time.

You have Daemon Tools Ultra installed. Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall the program at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

• Double click to open it.
• Click this button only:
• 
• If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

Hope it will do a better there.

thanks for that, I will follow your advice. I'm curious why the latest BSODs aren't showing up? Does WhoCrashed need to be installed prior to the BSOD? Because it was uninstalled until this morning...

Why what who crashed?

If the BSODs upto 07/11 can be recorded, there is no reason for the later ones not being recorded. The only chance is that the BSODs took place before windows loaded completely.

Uninstall Daemon tools and report us back.
