I am constantly receiving BSODs. The main one I see is "irql not less than or equal to" but I also see "windows service exception" and others. At first I thought it was bit torrent (seemed to bsod when starting a download), then I thought it was the nvidia drivers (crashing in games), but now I don't know anymore (randomly, even on safe mode w/ networking). I've reinstalled the OS multiple times, only to get a couple days without any problems. I've never done a bios update and I've had the computer built by a local pc store. Been running okay for a good half of a year. Hoping I attached the file correctly, and the "perfmon /report" didn't work so I didn't include it(guessing because I am in safe mode). Hope someone can help!

I did a disk check and scanned with sea tools.

Now while searching, I saw somewhere that Avg could be causing some problems. So I uninstalled that and went with microsoft security essentials. And for a good time, I didnt experience a single BSOD.

Then I tried updating to SP1 through Windows update and then the computer would keep freezing after that. When I can finally get past, it could load only to the system repair, in which it did a system restore. Then after, I tried updating again and I guess I have SP1 now. Still have BSOD though.

It's really random though. Sometimes when I play a game (i.e. Heroes of Newerth) it will crash/work for a great period of time. Sometimes when it crashes, it's really hard to start up again because it either freezes or the display is not recognized (the monitor is just on sleep).

I've tried removing the 9500gt manually and it worked for a bit and then BSOD'd. I've also tried stock drivers/downloading the latest drivers but still have problems. I think the most recent BSOD was caused when I tried to download a file from a external hard drive. The last problem said "page fault in nonpaged area". The one before that says "Special pool detected memory corruption."

I've also tried letting "Memtest" run with no problems and I've checked on the registry with cccleaner. Doesn't seem to be an overheating problem. Trying to reinstall drivers for the motherboard. Thanks for the suggestions though. I appreciate it. Is it any help that when I use bluescreenview that the thing highlighted in red is mainly this ntoskrnl.exe thing?

Just been busy with school.

Update:
I tried updating the realtek drivers but it seemed to be the latest, so I just went with the repair option.
It seemed to work pretty good for a while.
Then I ran driver verifier, BSOD'd. Again it says the ntoskrnl.exe is what's causing it.
I also ran Memtest for 7 hours with 7 passes w/ both sticks of ram in it last night.
Thinking of running the machine with one. Or is that not required?
There is another computer in the house.
If I switched the ram between computers would that be a good test?
But I don't want to ruin/infect the other computer (as it's not mine) if that's possible.

Looking around, I also ran the furmark test and things were okay.
Ran the Prime95 blender test and that seems good too.

I also looked into the installed updates through Windows updates and saw one that had no description.
It was simply blank and just had the number like "KB#######" (forgot the number).
I remember the computer BSOD'd while updating once and maybe the update got corrupted.
So I uninstalled it and thinking that too could have been the culprit.

The computer also sent information through windows and the reply was to update the "PX Engine"
So I did that too.

One thing worth noting, I was looking into the bios and I stumbled upon voltage settings.
The Ram was set to something like 1.60 and others were set to auto.
I set the ram back to auto and the computer has been running BSOD free for a while now. (crosses fingers)
I'm not sure what's the appropriate setting but I'm hoping that maybe that's all I needed.

It looks as if this is a hardware problem, honestly. Please run the Large and Small FFTs Prime95 tests, to start out with.

Do you have a better PSU you can use? Your current one is pretty cheap, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that were the cause. If not, you may try purchasing a high quality Corsair from the local computer shop, and see if you can return it if need be.

I just tried one large test and the computer froze. Or is it like that? I'll try again to confirm.
One thing though. I tried playing Half-life 2 and the game froze, BSOD, Irql message.
I tried playing again, it did the same thing at almost the exact same part.
So I uninstalled, driver sweeped, and now it's on something called Microsoft Corporation WDDMv1.1.
And it let me get past that part and worked good. (like two hard stutters but that was it).
I don't have another PSU. But there is another computer in the house. I'm just scared because I don't want to bring BSODs to that computer.

I've heard that my PSU is notorious (online) and I've been advised to change it before it blows up my system.
I live on Guam and there isn't too much options (that I know of).
Like the two main ones I see are from the same company and have the same stuff.
and you know, I looked at the shelves and it looked like this was the only PSU. (they charged $80 and I saw it on amazon for around $30 :( )
I don't see any of the good brands like corsair or seasonic?
I did see something like "logysis" but it looked really old.
I couldn't work out a deal with Newegg because of where I live. They wouldn't even ship to a forwarder site.
I'll try looking around when I can, maybe post up whatever I can find and you can help?

Go ahead and try the PSU from the other machine in yours; you shouldn't harm it in the process. If your PSU is bad, you might not want to connect it to the other machine, however.

It says for International I have to call. I'll check it out if I really can't find anything.

I posted in another forum asking if upgrading from my 9500GT to a HD 6850 would be suicide for the computer.
In short, they suggested to get a new one.

Is there a way to manually check if my psu is supplying the power that it states?
if it's right, it should be supplying around 54 amps together with the two 12v rails.
That should be good enough or around a 650w amp right?
Unless it's some sort of false advertisement..

*Computer related:
1. Tried the Large Prime test again and it didn't freeze. Been running for couple of hours
2. Some of my games stopped working with the WDDM driver, found the cd that came with the GPU, seems okay now. (I tried using it before but that just gave me a BSOD). Games working now.
3. I left a USB plugged in and the computer wouldn't start. unplugged it and it booted fine. Is that a problem?
Because I remember running memtest I had to change the the priority from cd to usb.. But I was pretty sure I changed it back.

If you're handy with a voltmeter, you could test that way; there are also special PSU testers you can use.

You know, I've run all these tests and nothings really worked.
But.. I think its just been corrupted video drivers.
I remember one day when it couldn't start, the boot up was changing colors.
Could that be another effect of a bad PSU?

The board has ati onboard.
When I checked driver sweeper, there was also nvidia chipset.
Is that for the card? Is it okay to sweep that?
Well I'm not sure but I sweeped the ati display.
And with that install of the gpu cd, things seem okay now.
I don't know about the usb boot up fail, but I can live if all I have to do is remove it.

Well glad to hear problems have subsided. It's possible the PSU caused those funny colors, I guess we'll see if the video driver reinstallation did the trick!

*my radeon hd 6850 came in, and I uninstalled old card, driver sweeped, installed new drivers.
Enjoying the upgrade :D

The computer's been running pretty stable.
But of course, there was a BSOD.
It only happened when I played Mass Effect 2.
I can not reproduce the problem with anything so far or any other games (like Dragon age 2, Sims Medieval, etc.)
Something of note, I couldn't play Mass Effect 2 without installing nvidia's physx software. So I installed it.
Could that conflict with ati drivers?
Looking into google, someone said people have had success by updating sound drivers.
Checked mine and it says it's up to date. Thinking of reinstalling them.

looking at blue screen view there is no bug check string description.
The only new information to report is that it says the cause is hal.dll
I mean, I guess can live without the game. But I just hope it doesn't happen with anything else.

Yes. But I do intend to switch the psu out when I can.
But you know.. it seems to be running okay? I've left the computer overnight.
Tested furmark. Done some uengine benchmarks. It was only Mass effect 2 when I hit a BSOD.
The first time it happened I was sad, but everything else runs good?
Been playing Dragon Age 2 on high settings for a couple of hours with no problems.
I tried Mass Effect and the same thing happened.

So.. I'm just guessing. Either a driver issue (I seriously think all my drivers are whack now)
Or is Mass Effect too demanding and was asking for more power than the psu could supply?

You may try running the Large FFTs Prime95 test again; that will require a lot of power, possibly identifying the PSU problem.

Seems to be working fine now after updating audio drivers.
Played Mass effect 2 with no problems.
Tried the Prime Tests and it works fine.

Then I remembered that I had tried to overclock before.
Seems that when I overclocked and I did the test, thats when it bsod'd
Blue Screen said something about an uncorrectable hardware error.
But the computer runs fine without any overclock.
So I am guessing that my computer is using just about the maximum amps the psu supplies.

I'm going to try to order a new one asap.
They don't have any corsairs here.
They had something like a 1000w greenpower one at around $200.
Checked online and it's about $100. Think I'd rather look for that corsair one you showed me again.

It's been a crazy experience, but it was fun testing everything and finally getting the computer to be stable.
