Bug with table software

I use PhotoShop3 and Corel Painter 11 together with an Intuous3 tablet. This setup has worked fine for months, however suddenly (after a recent Microsoft automatic upgrade) I get an error message:
"Tablet version mismatch" "Please reinstall tablet software".
I have removed then reinstalled the software, have the latest tablet driver, cleaned my registery etc. but get the same message everytime I log on or open CS3 or Painter 11. The tablet works fine, but the error message keeps popping up. When I'm in these programs I am sometimes unable to access files because of the error message. Have contacted Wacom but their suggested fix doesn't work. The problem appears on the web quite frequently, but no solutions are given. Would be interested in suggestions from this forum.

If the update was not important uninstall and then hide it, so it does not reinstall.

Far as I can tell the update was 8 separate security updates for Microsoft Windows7, so I'm loath to remove them. Also, I'm not positive it was the updates that caused problem, only assume so as this was the only known change to my system.

Uninstall the updates. They will be given to you again. For testing purposes, lets see if that is the reason. We can and will install again..

You can if you wish, unistall using system restore.

If you agree after the uninstall make sure it is not set to install automaticallly.

Ok, doesn't appear to have been the updates. Uninstalled them, rebooted and recieved same error. Removed Wacom software again, cleaned files and registry using "Windows 7 Manager" then reinstalled software and latest Wacom driver. Recieving same error when I start windows or try and run CS3 or Painter 11.

I should also add that I rechecked Wacom's "fix" by looking for any files remaining in SYSTEM32 or SYSWOW64 like wintab*.*, wacom*.* or tablet*.* and removing them after I uninstalled the Wacom software. There were non so I didn't have to remove anything.

First be sure to install the updates, again. It is my conclusion that if this is a common error, with no fix; it is a bug, that has to be fixed by the program mfg.

Just for the case someone stumbles upon this while searching for rescue I want to leave a thanks to Mandevu who posted the following:

I should also add that I rechecked Wacom's "fix" by looking for any files remaining in SYSTEM32 or SYSWOW64 like wintab*.*, wacom*.* or tablet*.* and removing them after I uninstalled the Wacom software. There were non so I didn't have to remove anything.

In my case some software had locked some of the above mentioned files while updating the driver which caused the issues. I uninstalled the current driver and removed the files as described (it was necessary to gain membership of the files and then set needed file permissions to be allowed to finally delete the files).
Then I installed the newest driver and rebooted. Until now the issues are gone.
