BUG_USB_DRIVER - RC install

Right then, as it turns out, Windows 7 RC has horrendous incompatibilities with my WinTV Nova T-500 TV Tuner. Installation worked fine when I removed it, but putting it in an booting 7 caused BSODs at random intervals, downloading new drivers seemed to fix it but the machine hangs on shutdown, won't sleep and the TV Tuner doesn't work.

Moral: If you have a Nova T-500, don't use the 7 RC

Oh dear, I hope they fix this for real 7.

I would say the moral the other way round. But the tuner is garbage anyway. Caused me no end of BSOD in XP over the last year or two and noow problems with W7.

Yeah, you're right, other way round.

I've just ordered a beautiful new tuner from BlackGold, worth a mention I feel, because they were so helpful. They also promised me if it caused any problems with install and or S3 sleep/resume, they'd help me to resolve it or give me a full refund if it wasn't possible - not bad at all.

The man I spoke to on the phone didn't slag Hauppauge off (too sensible) but did say in no uncertain terms their design for the NovaT 500 is renowned in the industry for being uniquely hopeless, basically. Basing an internal card on USB causes all the problems and is frankly just silly.

Hi,

When my computer reaches the end of the first section of the RC1 (64-bit) install, it doesn't reboot when it says it will. Instead, it sits for a while, and then gives me an error (BSOD) with the error code BUG_USB_DRIVER.

The only USB device I have plugged in is the receiver for my (MIcrosoft) wireless keyboard and mouse.

If I reboot the computer, it continues with the install but gets stuck at the Completing installation stage.

Anybody have any ideas?
