Hello All,

I spent the night building my new system, I removed the old system (everything) from the case & cleaned the case & fans. I installed the ram & processor outside of the case & went from there. Everything went smoothly & a couple of hours later I was installing Windows 7HP 64-bit, I have NEVER seen in install go so fast.. I didn't time it (wish I would have) but it couldn't have been more than a few minutes!?

I installed all essential drivers & ran windows update, after that I ran WEI & got 7.9 on all but the processor which got a 7.5. but that is fixed with a little Overclocking.

Thoughts: This is AWESOME.. I have always wanted "Instant" computing.. & now I've got it.. almost everything opens instantly! My old system, you click on something & waited a couple seconds. Click. . . . . . . o p e n. New system, clickOPEN!! lol

I can't wait to get a couple game & test this bad boy out!

Here are some photos of the build. Sorry for the bad pic quality.. tablet camera.

Looks great........you did a really good job. Good numbers as well! If you are looking into a Fractal Design case, check out their new Arc Midi V2. It looks to be an awesome case, and the original Arc Midi was already pretty damn good.

Now that is odd. I get 7.6 on Calcs from my bone stock i7-2600. Super scores on the rest though.

That's the difference between the i5-3570k and an i7. I think the highest the 3570K can go is a 7.7........it takes hyperthreading to get to 7.8.

Mmmmmmm. Ok. Normally, hyperthreading is the default. Why would you turn it off? I guess I missed that memo. :o

Windows already logs boot and shutdown times with a fairly detailed breakdown. (Down to the millisecond) The above is probably some third party software to read the log. If it doesn't read the log, I would be hesitant to install anything that's going in at Windows boot time. Call me paranoid but I just don't like that idea.

The i5 doesn't have hyperthreading........it's 4 cores, 4 threads.

Thanks All,
The system is running beautifully, I'm still not quite used to how fast everything loads.. I noticed (my dad also noticed) everything looks a little sharper & more detailed now.. It's the same monitor & HDMI to DVI-D cable!?

Lady Fitzgerald,
I found it by doing a Google search for restart-time.vbs, I just checked & it looks like someone has already posted it here in the forums.. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/720-restart-time.html.
If you want to know you're Restart Time, just look at the top of the post I linked to, it's much faster/"safer."

"You can also view the startup logs in Event Viewer (C:\Windows\system32\eventvwr.msc) under Applications and Services Logs, Microsoft, Windows, Diagnostics-Performance, and Operational. The logs will be in the middle to show you what ran at startup, how long it took, and more."

carwiz,
"I would be hesitant to install anything that's going in at Windows boot time. Call me paranoid but I just don't like that idea."

I'm usually kind of anal about security on my PC.. I always research everything online before I download it, I also scan all files (with several scanners, Malware, Antivirus etc..) I download to make sure they are safe. I also have a fairly strict policy when it comes to anyone using my system, I learned the hard way, I had a nephew (he was 16 at the time) spend the night a few years ago & he stayed up half the night using the computer & I ended up spending the next day re-installing XP. There was so much crap downloaded it would have taken longer to clan the system as it did to start fresh.. plus, I never truly trust a system once it has been infected anyway!

Later, Phil B.
