Build 7601

Hi I wonder if anyone can help.
I had a new MB fitted to my laptop, it worked fine for 2 weeks after return. I am now getting the Build 7601 message, I have tried re-entering the product key but it tells me I cannot apply it to the computer. This is the product key this computer has always had..what can I do?
Tried posting a question on the Microsoft forum but it just kept telling me to try again later Ggrrrr

Welcome to SevenForums. OEM W7 operating systems are only seen as valid to their original mobo's. This may require that you call Microsoft and explain the situation and needing a new mobo, as it is now MS likely just thinks the OS was transferred to another computer.

Have all your serial numbers, purchase dates and the product keys ready. Sometimes this can be done in the registration process with a call into a auto validation number which gives you a validating number to enter into specific fields, otherwise speaking with a human is an option.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

It's likely that unless you had the motherboard replaced by the manufacturer with an identical model, that you are outside the terms of the license agreement.
