Built in Administrator Account logs off before displaying anything

using win 7 home
the Admin account after boot will not work.
the screen flickers for a second then you see briefly "Logging Off"
and back to the login screen
have tried to activate the admi account but still logs off instantly
I changed the name from Administrator to useless is that the problem?
If so, how do I change the account name back to Administrator?

tried the cmd (elevated)
net user administrator /active:yes
it said it worked but the only accounts see at boot are
mage (me) and useless

any ideas?

Just a shot in the dark, but can you boot into safe mode?
