Hello, I've got a Dell E5520 laptop and am trying to record a video with Power Director. It captures only video and not audio. When I go to the control panel and go to recording devices it shows two options which are minijack inputs on the laptop. There is no option for an internal mic which I know it has because I used to capture vids and audio without plugging in a mic (with a different program that I no longer have).

Troubleshooting audio in the control panel only detects the same two minijack inputs as an option.

Can you please tell me how to get my internal mic working again?

Thanks,
Jeremy

The "Stereo Mix" (may be called System Mixer) needs to be set as the default Recording device.

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. Click on the Recording Tab and this is where you set the Stereo Mix as the default.

Hi firebird, thank you for the reply. The only two options in recording devices are microphone and microphone. There is no option for "stereo mix". I've right clicked to show all disabled devices and nothing else comes up.

Did you also check to show "disconnected" devices?

Also, are you using the correct Dell supplied IDT sound driver? Product Support | Dell US
