Built in Graphics Card Question

Sorry but I don't understand what you are asking.

If you have onboard graphics it is a chip on the motherboard, if you have an actual graphics card that will be in a slot.

I think that if you install a card you would disable the onboard chip.

Whichever you have neither will give problems during an install.

If that is not what you want to know please post back with a few more details of what you are trying to do.

Ok I have 2 graphics cards in my computer right now, one is onboard and the other isn't. My monitor is plugged into my graphics card that is NOT onboard. So do I only need to use my onboard one, and unplug the other one during installation?

With your system, once you install a card into the Pci-e slot, it should automatically disable the onboard video.

Simply plug into your graphics card, and power on, you'll be good. You no longer need the onboard video, for anything. The system is designed this way, in anticipation of an upgrade. And any installation of Windows should go just the same. When installation is complete, I highly recommend getting the newest driver for your card from Nvidia.

This will do: NVIDIA DRIVERS 197.45 WHQL

once ur video card is installed and working it is synced to work with the motherboard even outside of the windows enviroment(for example this is why u can boot into the bios with a video card) so u can install windows with the card in but u probably have to reload the drivers for windows after

Well whenever I try to install Windows 7 I get this error: Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0x80070001 And I have used the installation disc about 5-10 times with no problems, so I know it isn't a bad disc

The card shouldn't cause the problem, but anything is possible.

Try this:

Edit: First, try just plugging into your onboard video, and running the Windows Installer. If you get the same problem, then:Take the video card out of your PC, then plug your display back into the "onboard video" port.

Install windows, entirely.

After this, install the graphics card into the slot, plug your display into the new card, and boot up, and attempt to install the driver.

If you come to a problem even with the card out of the system, it's not the video card causing this, be that the case, post back here.

I may be way off base with this but you aren't trying to use the "Install Drivers" option during OS installation to install the video driver, that option is for installing RAID drivers for the Hard Disk Drive(s)?
