hello....i just upgraded my HP laptop from WinVista32bit to Win7Ultimate64bit with a 500gb(7200rpm) hard drive upgrade(Wow what a difference). Since I made the upgrade i decided to replace the integrated webcam because it didnt work. Replacement did the trick. Presto!. NOW onto the problem, the micophone.....I have looked extensively online for the answer but i am still having to use a plug in mic......the driver is working....i can go to device mgr and tap the mic and the green test bar has action...but it will not record audio....i am beginning to think i should replace it too....but i hope not...any help is appreciated.

I have four pc's. This HP is my best and favorite one. It does most everything although its is 3 yrs old. I have upgraded the hard drive and installed windows 7 ultimate on that drive and now it is Sweeeeeeet.
Outburst I also have an HP laptop and if you go and open HP Media smart Webcam then click on About in the left pane then check Capture with audio. Maybe that will solve your mic trouble.

i made a fresh install of windows ......so i dont have media smart.....that program usually comes with pc's with OS preinstalled...ive tried in skype and youcam....mic dont work.

i have set up the mic several times but it dont solve my problem, i ordered another mic today.....hoping that will solve...i have done everything.....just like my web cam....i replaced it and now it works...but keep the comments coming...i welcome them all..
