burning audio cd's

When I burn audio cds using itunes or nero I can't skip between songs on my stereo or in my car - the disc is read as just one song, when I use windows media player everything works as normal, anyone got a solution?
I've tried updating firmware, disabling the built-in cd feature, burning at slow speeds, nothing seems to work.

Not sure, I haven't tried changing this setting yet but uncheck the remove silence box. I've never had that problem with my cd's. In my car we can select through all the songs. And the only burning program I use for music cd's is Nero.

Do this -- it's a bit of a cludge but works. You need to install alcohol 52% -- it's free and will allow you to mount a Virtual CD. Other Virtual CD mounters might be OK but this one ALWAYS works for this type of application.

1) Rip the audio CD's / original songs or the music you want for your Car to FLAC with any decent FLAC ripper. I'm using WINAMP but any will do -- EAC is Free and works as well.

2) create your combination of songs into a single folder which will be your album name- ensure that the Max capacity doesn't go over around 650 MB / 70 Mins for an audio CD.

3) use NERO with the mega plugin pack to burn the FLAC files to a .nrg image - use the Audio CD option with Image writer.

4) now mount the .nrg image with Alcohol 52%

5) You can then burn it as an Audio CD.

It might seem a bit fiddly but burning directly without mounting the .nrg file sometimes screws it up -- the extra step only takes seconds. You can check that the CD is OK before burning as the mounted image will behave just like an Audio CD so you can play it on the computer.

BTW all the tracks are tagged if you use Winamp.

You need to use "Disk At Once" (DAO) to burn the audio CD's. This is assuming you have separate song files. I use Nero but this is also applicable to Roxio or other Audio CD burning software. I do a lot of Audio CD burning as I have a small recording studio. I also use 8X as my audio CD burning "standard" so it will play in any audio CD player. If you burn at high speeds it can skip, have dropouts or not even play.

If you are burning MP3's try Burrrn. It is a great lite app that I like because it works good and is easy to change the name of the song so that it will appear properly in your car stereo. Never had any issues with my car stereo using it.

burn out: I'm having the EXACT same problem.

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit and my burner is a Samsung SH-S223C, although its called TSSTcorp SH-S223C in my device manager. My fw version is SB02.

What burner are you using?

PS I've tried using Nero, itunes, and Burrrn. All have same results.

mikemasses - we have exactly the same set up: same windows version, same samsung burner, same fw... I've found that I can get it to work if I burn at x4 speed and use a one second gap between songs. not really what I want though.

I use Nero (9) and the Nero Burning ROM, not the "Burn Audio" application. I have all my songs set for 2 second Pause between songs. When I burn I use Disk At Once so the titles will show.

I have 4 of the Samsung TSST CD/DVD burner drives that I use in 5 USB connected drives that I use for burning (I can burn 5 discs at one time). The TSST is for "Toshiba" and "Samsung".

fireberd - I'm using burning ROM (9.4.26) as well, burning using DAO.

burn out - It's just the drive. I managed to borrow a friends LiteOn USB burner (no third party drivers or software required), burnt exactly the same cd from a save file in Nero Burning ROM that consistently didn't work with my TSST drive (couldn't skip tracks), and it was absolutely fine. Tried it in 3 different stand alone players to check as well.

I e-mailed samsungodd.com and got a standard generic response:

Dear Mr. Mases

Audio CD's created from MP3 files have errors during playback of the music,
The following steps can help you determine the problem:

-Check if the MP3 files themselves have any problems in playback
-Try upgrading the Recording Software you are using to the latest version
-Upgrade the Firmware of your drive to the latest version on our www.samsungodd.com/eng
website under [Firmware Downloads]
-When trying to record audio at high speed, this may cause glitches in the music,
Try recording the CD at a lower speed (2x - 8x)
- The CD-R's may not be of a quality required by audio-CD's. Please try recording
on one of the brands recommended by Samsung such as Imation, Maxell, TDK and Sony

If these options do not solve your problem, the drive may be defective.
Please return the device to the store, where they can send it to a service-center for repairs.

As it happens one of the brands of CD I was trying was also in fact TDK, so in theory I was able to try absolutely ideal conditions.

I'm just cutting my losses and buying a Sony burner (they're so cheap now). Can't be bothered with the hassle of returning this defective drive as it may mean returning my whole system. It's a shame as well because burning data cd's and dvd-r's: no problem at all.

Burning audio CDs

I have the same problem as burn out which would seem to be caused by the SH-S223C burner. ( I never had this problem with the an SH-S203C running under XP). Using Nero 9 I burnt several discs at various speeds (down to x8) with Disc-at-once but they were all not playable on normal CD players i.e. just one track and tracks 2 etc couldn't be accessed. However using x8 and Disc-at-once/96 it worked OK. Apparently using DAO the burner creates all the subchannel date whereas with DAO/96 Nero creates the data. I hope this information is of some use to people comtemplating throwing out their SH-S223C drives.

None of my TSST drives are the SH203C model. I have two SH S182M, two SH S202G and one SH S222L and they all work OK. I must be lucky.

i cannot burn audio CD on my win7.I tried nero,roxio,xpburning.. I can burn Data CD but NOT audio CD !!. I already uninstalled and reinstalled the driver.. But still i got this message 'failed to write Lead-In..' any idea?
