Hi Nicole,

Do you get an error message - or does the burn appear to go fine .. and then what...?

You might visit the manufacturer website and see if there is a firmware update for your drive.

No it just tells me that it will not burn. I am thinking that I might have to wait for an HP update. Which totally sucks.

Nicole, which program do you want to install and you don't know how to?

The link I gave you to DVD Flick, shows how to install and burn a DVD.
The General tab lets you set the size of your target media (i.e., the capacity of your DVD). If you're burning to a standard DVD-R, you'll want to keep the default 4.3GB setting. However, you can also set your target size to Dual Layer DVD, Mini-DVD, CD-R, or your own custom target size.

How are you trying to burn the movie? From a file on your computer such as an ISO image or from an AVI or MPEG? Are you trying to copy a DVD?

There are many different ways to burn a movie. If you can tell me exactly what you want to do I am sure I can help you out.

Nero Vision from my personal experience is a terrible program. Honestly I started out trying to burn AVI files with the same thing and it would only successfully burn once in a while. Most of the time it either failed or the resulting burn was choppy.

I would recommend VSO ConvertXtoDVD for doing AVI to DVD it can handle any and every format I have ever tried throwing at it and it also does it fast and in very good quality. It can convert the files over and then burn them. This also allows the DVD to be played in any standard DVD player. You will have several menu styles you can choose from and lots of other options this way as well.

If you want to burn the AVI file directly to the disc for playing it back on a Divx enabled DVD player you could try using HT Fireman. It's free and small and does an excellent job. I used to use that back when I was burning AVI files directly for my Divx player.

These days the only thing I ever use Nero for is to burn an ISO with Nero Express or to burn a few files onto a CD or DVD if I need to.

If you are stuck with Nero I would suggest possibly reinstalling it or hitting the support over on the nero page. If it was working and has started having issues the problem is with Nero and would be hard for any of us to trouble shoot.

I actually really like VSO ConvertXtoDVD. It is a small program not all bloatted like Nero 9. Thanx for the recommendation :)

Yeah I knew you would like it if you gave it a try. Once I found out about it I never looked back.

It can convert anything literally. I have converted many many different formats with it so far even .flv without any problems.

If you get a .mkv and it contains multiple subtitle and audio languages they also convert over to DVD and can be used.

Any DVD wouldn't be able to help you here (it's not a Tool to create DVD streams (Vob/IFO - Structure ;)
THe other one I never used...too many good freeware programs around for that :D

Before I swarm you with recommendations:

What EXACTLY are you trying to accomplish?
What is not working and what kind of (if any) program are you looking for?
