Hi Seven Forums I am thinking about buying a new processor for my laptop. My Processor spec at the moment are:

Processor

Name: AMD Turion 64 Mobile TK-55
Code Name: Tyler
Brand ID: 3
Package: Socket S1 (638)
Technology: 65nm
Core VID: 1.100V
Specification: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55
Core Speed: 1795.0 MHz
Mulitplier: x 9.0
Bus Speed: 199.5 MHz
HT Link: 798.0 MHz

I'm not too sure if this is good or not to be honest.
What are the best processors out there?
And I am looking for a good CPU, for a relativly cheap price that is currently better than the one I have?

Thanks you all for idea and help, and you shall be recieving R.E.P from me:)

I don't think you would gain much by trying to upgrade the cpu in a laptop. your limited by the motherboard. Just get a newer laptop. IMO

as with what ken stated, i don't think you'd get too far in upgrading that one. i believe amd has release newer turions and they may or may not have changed the socket. if the socket is the same, you may have a route to go for upgrading...

Thanks Guys, I have decided not to upgrade my CPU and you have saved me money. Could you just explain to me about this "socket", what socket do I have?
You all have REP thanks.

Socket is generally a reference to the way the processor fits onto the motherboard.

Think of a common electrical socket. Most in the US have 3 holes and will accept a 2 prong or 3 prong plug.

Similarly, processors and motherboards must match up a series of pins and holes. Intel recently moved to 1156 and 1366 sockets, for instance.

Here is the business end of Intel's 775 processor. Count em, if you don't have anything to do for a while. It has to mate with the motherboard.

All fans PWM; speeds at idle: CPU circa 500 rpm; intake circa 600 rpm; exhaust circa 600 rpm; CPU temps 27 idle and 47 C load in a warm room (27 C/81 F) when running Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress test.
the turion 64 and the 64x2 are socket S1, so replacing that cpu will require a cpu that has that same socket
