Buzzing Freezing when playing Media files

Hi
Have been having this a lot lately particularly when playing media files of any sort, is there anything I can do to fix this at all? No errors come up just a very loud buzzing and screen freezes briefly thanks

Hello, those issues are usually cause by throttling which in turn is usually cause by overheating.
Please update your system specifications.

• Download Speccy and post a Screenshot of the summary window, one at idle and another while putting load on the PC using Prime95 for the CPU side and Furmark for the GPU.

Hi thanks for the screenshots.
I don't see any overwhelming temperatures so that is not the issue.
What type of videos are you trying to playback?
1080p HD videos? higher than that?
How are you playing them back?

The motherboard temps higher than the cpu temps seems strange to me.

I could be Speccy giving false readings or poor air circulation.

Is the a Desktop or Laptop? The specs are confusing.

I just took that for the CPU reading, being a BGA, as temperature value for the CPU didn't really change.

Yoyo> this happens with all media files regardless of resolution in videos, regardless of programs even in YouTube through a browser, it even happens when playing music through WMP. Really strange

I let it continue the stress test overnight if this has any relevance at all and the results after approx 9 hours show no obvious signs of any errors its a strange one, is there no software fix for these kind of things?

It's looks as if it might be a software issue, is the PC sluggish in overall OS general use?

Did you try scanning for Malware?

Download | Process Explorer.

Immediately after a Cold Boot launch Process Explorer (if you have a short list,
click "Show Processes From All Users" the right most option in the top bar):

• Arrange "Working Set" (by clicking on the top of that column) so that the highest value is at the top of the list (you might have to click it several times), take a screenshot.
• Arrange "Private Bytes" (by clicking on the top of that column) so that the highest value is at the top of the list (you might have to click it several times), take a screenshot.
• Arrange "CPU" (by clicking on the top of that column) so that the highest value is at the top of the list (you might have to click it several times), take a screenshot.

After 30 minutes (or the maximum amount the system hold its self together):

• Arrange "Working Set" (by clicking on the top of that column) so that the highest value is at the top of the list (you might have to click it several times), take a screenshot.
• Arrange "Private Bytes" (by clicking on the top of that column) so that the highest value is at the top of the list (you might have to click it several times), take a screenshot.
• Arrange "CPU" (by clicking on the top of that column) so that the highest value is at the top of the list (you might have to click it several times), take a screenshot.

Upload the screenshots in a .zip file arranged in folders please.

Thanks Yoyo, dont be sorry your help is much appreciated. It can freeze every now and again to be honest. Not the slowest laptop ever but sluggish at times for definite yes. I have scanned for malware with malwarebytes cleaned reg with Jetclean, defragmented it still same issue

I'll be frank with you, the Celeron family of CPUs aren't exactly known for performance but still playing a simple video
is a task not out of their reach.
I can clearly see something taxing the CPU please click on the first box on the left that will bring you to the CPU
usage area (not the official name) then hover your mouse courser over the graph and take a couple of screenshot with
different tool-tips (the info box hovering next to the courser).

Thanks, yeah as I suspected it won't be as simple as that :huh: ...
If I had control of the PC i would investigate further but being online doesn't really enable me to do so.
Be cause of that we need to take the brute-force approach.

Starting with malware and virus scans.

I also noticed you said you used a "reg cleaner" which are known to do more harm than good.
How long and how often have you been using those "cleaners"?
Do you have a restore point to fall back on, prior to using them?

• Download TDSS-Killer and scan for rootkits.
• Download Windows Defender Offline and scan for other types of infections.
• Follow this tutorial on how to use the SFC/ SCANNOW tool in Windows.

Thanks for the reply Yoyo, will try these steps and get back to you, as for the cleaner to be honest I only downloaded this as a very last resort because I heard as much about them like you say causing more harm than good but had this long before I downloaded it. Program was Jetclean but will deffo take it off as a precaution because it hasnt helped the system much at all either. I should have a restore point backed up as I havent had it this long so should be ok to do that will keep you posted

Hello, I'd also take a good look at some of the relevant drivers, find recent ones (from Intel), or uninstall > reinstall the ones from Dell ( Drivers & Downloads | Dell US ). Eventually try running only the default drivers from Microsoft, and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Yoyo, sorry for delay. Had problems getting the offline defender onto disc, got there in the end. All tests returned clean results so guessing virus may be out of the question?

4wd thanks for your comment, tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers dell drivers are up to date. Havent tried running default drivers from Microsoft, how do I do this?
