Hello
Just installed Win 7 this weekend, clean install after many years of using XP.

I'm enjoying the experience thus far but have two queries.

Can I bypass the logon screen at startup?
I don't use a password, but I still have to click my username before I get to my Desktop. Is there a way to avoid having to do this? It seems fairly redundent. My account is the 'admin' and there's a guest account which I (think I) need to allow my Mac to network and share files with.

Second query is the redonculous 'Folder in use' error/message/bug. I've been trying via Google to work out what it is, so far the closest I come up with is something to with thumbs.db (which don't seem to exist on my machine?) win Aero? Causing conflict issues which don't allow me to move files/folders alter or delete them sometimes.

This post Windows 7 and "Folder In Use" error on network shares seems to say what the issue is but the 'remedy' listed, I can't seem to find the correct settings to alter to fix it, not on this machine anyway!

Any help appreciated. Setting up all my old documents and files on this machine is what I'm still doing at the minute so this error/bug is a bit annoying.

Thanks!

Hello Flamingkittes, and welcome to Seven Forums.

For the log on issue, you should be able to select the user account and leave the password blank using the tutorial below to do so.

Hope this helps
Shawn

Sadly it doesn't.
What I get is an error saying I've got a wrong username/password - I'm 100% certain I haven't.
I then have to click okay, I go back to the same screen I'm trying to get rid of only this time it gives me the password box and I have to click enter without putting in any password. Very odd.

Edit: Oops, I was wrong. I didn't need to put a password in in the control setup thing. Solved that now, thanks!
