C:/ Drive reset to restore point from April?

OK, so I'm kindof in panic now.
I was installing a Linux distro, and made a backup of my Windows 7 files.
I messed something up in GRUB so whenever I tried to boot to Windows 7 the PC just rebooted. So I used my Windows 7 reset disk and entered recovery or something like that. There, I tried using /fixboot and /fixmbr like I did when this happened a while ago, but it said "Unknown command" or some variation of that. So I used Startup Repair, and apparently it was successful, but then Windows asked me to revert to a System Restore Point. I had recently made a restore point so I clicked OK. When it was done I realised that infact Windows had selected the OLDEST restore point, from April. So when I booted into Windows, all my stuff was like it was in April. ALL my work things are GONE. This is very bad for me, as I will probably lose my job, so I need some kind of a solution. I'm busy using Recuva with Deep Scan to scan my PC completely, but its taking a while. Also in the backup I made half my work things aren't there.
So please, I need a solution quickly!

A system restore does not normally affect user data, so the files should still be there. Have you got access to a bootable Linux CD, such as Ubuntu? Many of these can be run as live (they do not install, but run entirely in RAM), and you should be able to access your HDD. Hopefully, this should help in recovering at least some of your data.

I hope that you haven't installed Recuva after the event, as the installation of any program can overwrite data that you wish to recover.

No, I can access my hard drive and everything. I can use my Windows boot like normal, except its 5 months ago data. Also, I think it wasn't System Restore but rather something like Windows Image or something.

You should know if you have a stored backup image which you reimaged onto the HD. That is the only way your data would be wiped out. The stored image would have had to be on a set of disks, external HD or network as should have been the backup you say you made.

You said you backed up so where did you put the backup? A backup should of course be to external HD, disks or network or it isn't backed up.

Look in Computer to see what drives are there. Browse them all to see if you find your files. Plug in externals and browse all disks where you might have put backup.
