I began this subject back some days ago, but can't find the thread for it, so I'm starting another. I just received an Audiovox TV Volume Controller that I ordered, which is supposed to be placed between the PC soundcard and the speakers, but there are only two leads...red and white, while the speakers operate on a triple lead system...pink (I think), black and green. If I only place the controller on two of the leads between the speakers and soundcard, the third would be unregulated, which would defeat the purpose of the controller. How should I interface these devices?

Sounds like you have a Gateway Boston Accoustics speaker system. The leads from the BA speakers go, Pink to the Pink mic INPUT jack on the PC, the GREEN to the GREEN speaker out and the BLACK to the second speaker/Line Out whatever color that is on your PC.

What I find doing a google search for the Audiovox TV Controller is that it has the standard stereo RCA jacks on it and you put that between the stereo output of a TV and the stereo input on some other device such as amplified speakers or a stereo amplifier. Based on this, it won't work with your specific speaker set up. If you just had a 2.1 analog speaker system that only has one lead that is connected to the PC you could get some 1/8" stereo to RCA plug adapters and use it.

No, I have a Creative SB560 5.1 system. I also have a Creative T20 2.1 on my secondary rig, that I could use the controller on, but it is really the primary rig that I need this most on. I already have the RCA/1/8 adapters, but that doesn't help connecting two lines to three outlets. I'm wondering if there is some kind of adapter that would feed two outlets on the soundcard to one line-in on the controller, so that all three were regulated?

BTW, I may have gotten the color wrong for the pink connector, because it is not a microphone connector. the colors are somewhat close, but not the same. The one that I'm speaking of is strictly an output on the soundcard, that goes to the woofer, along with the green and black leads.

It doesn't matter, the device you have is for controlling a stereo speaker system, not a 4.1, 5.1, 7.1 type system. It will never work or work properly with the speaker system you have as it only has one stereo input and one stereo output. I would return the unit, if you can, since it's not for multiple PC speaker systems.

These units are designed for stereo from a TV and to keep the volume leve constant, such as lowering the volume level when a loud commercial comes on. This isn't the case with a PC sound system.

Thanks, but I'm not going to return it, because doing so would cost a good percentage of what the unit cost me, and wouldn't be worth it. I still think that I can use it on my 2.1 secondary rig.

Is there such a thing as a controller similar to this that will work on a 5.1 system?

It should work on the 2.1 system OK. You will need adapter cables to convert the 1/8" stereo plug output of the PC to two RCA plugs (for the stereo Left/Right) and the same in reverse to connect the two RCA jack outputs of the device to a 1/8" stereo jack for the speaker's connection.

I haven't researched these devices so I don't know if there is anything like that for a 5.1 system.

Googling, I came across an idea that I hadn't thought of. What if I buy another volume control like the one that I have, Using one for 2 of the soundcard's outputs, and the other for the third....what do you think?
