Hi! I'm using Win7 in portuguese (pt-PT) and the calculator has some some keys with strange symbols in them. So, instead of the backspace arrow, there's a rectangle, and the "x" was replaced by a square. In scientific mode it's even worse.

I've already restored windows fonts through the control panel. I've renamed the calc.exe.mui and nothing. I've even tried downloading an english version posted in these forums, but it didn't work. Even the language remained the same.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, KoolKat.

Although my computer and its Win7 installation are quite recent, I can't really pinpoint the day it happened. Plus, I've installed so many programs that I'm not willing to lose all the work. This bugs me, but I can live with it if I have to.

I use Advanced SystemCare and CCleaner. I've also tried the SFC.
The problems persists in any new account.
Could this have anything to do with the use of a font manager? I haven't been messing around with system fonts, though, and the Segoe UI font appears to be ok.

Advanced SystemCare rather damages than taking care of the computer as i've heard (obviously i never used it myself), Ccleaner is good.

did the SFC scan find any integrity violations? if yes, you should do a restart.

I would again suggest you to do a system restore to a date before you saw this problem.

Before you uninstall it, you should go to the folder for it and see when it was installed so you can rollback to before that and see if that fixes your problem. On the search box type "advanced system care". When you see it pop up, right click on it and select properties then details.

as you mentioned in your first post that you're using Portuguese, does this happen when you're using English? you may also get in safe mode and check if the problem exists there too. post back either way.

The SFC scan reported some corrections, I've restarted and the problem persisted. Safe mode didn't work either. I've even replaced both the .exe and the .mui files with en-US ones and the wrong symbols were there. Well, I'm ready to accept defeat. Do you know any decent, free, good-looking calculator? Thank you very much for your help.
