I can play Call of Duty 4 for about 20 Min. normal and without any Problems.
After that the screen start freezing every minute for seconds.
I will get my 4 GB RAM tomorrow and then I will have a look if it becomes better.

Thanks and Regards Mikel

After I changed from 2x1G RAM 800 to 2x2G RAM 1066 the game is running now smooth and without any Problems. As I don’t play online I cannot say something about this.

Problem solved.

Regards Mikel

I recently started having problems with my COD4 game experience in Win7. I played without problems for about 2 weeks (3+ hours of online gametime). I had major problems with my IE8 and was no longer able to connect to the internet. Ended up restoring Win7 to a previous date. Have been unable to play since. Game starts but within one minute it completely locks up (black screen, then no input to monitor). I have to restart the machine.
I tried to reinstall the game but with no luck. I'll try to play in my XP partition tonight to see if I am having video card failure or if it is compatibility problems. Any one else having problems playing?? My system is old but it ran fine before (been playing on XP for about a year).
I'll end up reinstalling Win7 if the issue continues.

Sounds like something in your registry might have been damaged or something, as that has happened several times with me during a system restore on different operating systems (XP, Vista + 7) and hence that's why I attempt to avoid System Restore where possible.

About CoD 4, I have had Seven for a month now and now had any problems with Cod running at all. It froze earlier this month but I believe that was to do with another issue which I sorted out, and it has not happened since, the game runs perfectly fine :)

Make sure you are using the prerelease BETA drivers available on Windows Update. I know there is v9.1 drivers just been released but they are also BETA and I have not tested them yet so not sure how they run on Cod 4 but I have heard they have messed up with some other games. But I know the prerelease drivers on Windows Update allow me to run Cod as well as all my other games perfectly fine :)

Not sure if it makes a difference but maybe your card has an effect, I am using a 3850 and it's all good.

Dont think I can help you out. That has been a while ago now. I have completely rebuilt my machine since then and am running W7x64 without trouble.
Try reinstalling COD4. Before you do be sure to save your user settings so you won't lose your game progress. You can just dump the user files back into the right location after reinstall.

FWIW I just got MW2 installed yesterday. It looks beautiful on my new Asus 23" monitor.
