Can a badly coded software cause computer problems?

I'm just asking, because when I was playing "Battlefield Play4Free" (if you know the game or even play it, the software it self is bugged, it may gives you a freeze crash where you need to reset your computer since the game froze the entire computer), I tried to exit the match, the game froze and it gave me a BSOD (only once because of the game), and like the title says, will it cause problems?

Any program you use on your computer that is not made correctly (properly coded) will cause problems.

Certainly possible. An application fault will normally not cause a BSOD as the OS was specifically designed to make sure an application failure effected no others. But it can still happen.

Just came in my head, can anyone give me examples of the problems that will happen to your PC?

The thing is that buggy applications do not follow some set of rules as to what problems they can cause. The nature and severity of the problems are unpredictable.

Edit: Software developers are very ingenious. They are always finding new ways for their software to misbehave, inadvertently of course.
