Can anyone help me further educate myself on analyzing DMP files?

Hey guys. I am very intrigued by dump files, and I have always wanted to learn how to successfully read and analyze them. With the help of your great guides in the Crash & Debugging forum, I have learned how to do most if not all of the basics as far as analyzing dump files in WinDbg goes. Now that I know how to do all of that, I would like to learn how to further analyze dump files, etc.

Are there any great reads on here that I may have missed, or elsewhere on the WWW?

Thanks very much :)

There is a steep learning curve and it is as much art as it is science. There is an app for the newly curious that isnt always accurate but does give you incite called Blue screen view.

Feel free to pm me.

Thanks for your response. I have heard of Blue Screen View. What does Blue Screen View offer that WinDbg does not? Is it just nice for beginners to learn things to then take over to WinDbg?

Just in case you are not familiar with this part of our Forum...

Yes, I am, and I am reading such threads as we speak :)

I guess learning how to extensively analyze dump files comes with practice and just time overall?

My suggestion is to try to analyze DMPS that have already been done and see if you come to the same conclusion.

There are things you just cant learn any other way than by lots of experience, like which drivers are problematic, and which conflict with each other.

Fair enough, I understand. Hopefully one day I will be able to analyze dumps as well as you guys can :)
