Hi,

until recently my laptop has been connecting via my router to the internet, with no problems. However now it can connect to the router (wireless network) fine, but I can't get to the internet, or nothing can talk to the internet (eg virus updates).

What's happened in between:
I requested my university IT dept to please enable my laptop to connect to the campus wireless network within range, but without effecting my home connection (might I add!). They worked some magic, and said this would now be the case.

Having done nothing else to the laptop, when trying to connect at home; no luck! It looks like connection to the router is fine, but not to the internet.

My home Desktop PC (Win XP) and iPhone still talk to the internet without any problems.

Any ideas please? Thanks in advance for your help.

They probably set the DNS servers to the campus ones, and at home you are getting DNS from somewhere else. It cant find the campus DNS servers.

You didnt mention the lappy's OS so I cant give you specific info on how to change it.

I would need to take a look at a screen shot of your ipconfig /all to determine the changes they made to your IPv4 properties "you can probably just change them back".

You can set up more than one subnet using the advanced TCP/ip advanced settings. They probably only made the changes to your IPv4 properties which will also effect your connection at home.
