Can I change my cpu???

Hi there,

So I was wondering if i would be able to change my cpu here are a few system specs:

Brand: Acer
Model: Base: Aspire 5135 Exact:Aspire 5315-2848
CPU: Intel Celeron 560 @2.13GHz

I am looking to go towards and better cpu that is compadible in my cpu socket. If you need any more specs comment below.

I suppose I'm not clear on the question. Are you asking if it is possible to upgrade, or asking for upgrade suggestions?

Although, with the acre motherboard, I think you'll be limited.

Sorry But when you say that i dont quite understand. so your saying i would be able to go from celron to core 2 duo??? If so can you point me towards the right one.

You need to make sure that the CPU you would like to install is the same socket as your motherboard.

working with socket 478, the T9600 looks like your best bet. This is also dependent on having enough PSU wattage, and memory to see the improvement.
IMO, I wouldn't spent the $350 JUST for the cpu on an Acer. (NOT knocking your rig, mind you) Just that the CPU costs as much as the rig itself does.
There may be other alternatives though, depending on what you want your end result to look like.

This is a notebook and changing the CPU will not be as easy as in a desktop. But you have to give us the motherboard number for further research. The Acer site is useless - no way to find it. Run Belarc Advisor and it will tell you.

I think he can go to Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,CPUs / Processors,Processors - Mobile

He just needs the socket type of his laptop, and make sure it'll fit and work with his computer.

Its a socket 478, and there are a few possible upgrades, just none that makes much of a difference, cost/performance ratio speaking.

Yes as some said here to. Your best bet is just to get a new complete tower for the costs. Right now HP even has units with awesome stats, 4gb Ram 500gb hd, dual core AMD or Intel etc etc.. for like $250 - 340
