Solved Can I delete superfluous Win7 files for more space?

My new system has a 112 gb SSD for the system ( C: ) drive. It is obviously too small and dangerously close to running out of space. I've moved all the applications that I can to another drive, but I still require more "system drive" space. Since I'm running Win7 x64, can I move the "duplicate" Win 7 32bit apps off this drive ( i.e. Windows Defender )? Are there any "bloatware" files that I can move? I don't need all the "scenes and sounds" available. I don't know which files qualify for this removal. I wouldn't delete them, simply move them to the larger storage drive. Since I am primarily involved in digital media, my large FONT file is needed.

Thank you in advance for your help,
Sonny

Well you can move the hybernation file which is the size of your installed ram do 8 gig ram installed == 8 gig root drive savings. That's quick/easy/safe.

But even a fully bloated windows install (after a year or two of use) should only be around 40-50 gig. (Well I don;t know how large your FONT folder is, are you saying that that is taking up like another 50 gigs?) pretty much EVERYTHING else can be installed on other drives. Rather than taking the somewhat dangerous route of moving user folders and windows files, I'd pretty much leave windows be on the root drive and look into what /other/ files are taking up space and move some of that.

(Though some people experience out of control system restore checkpoints or other unusual problems that may bloat windows up even further, such could be your case)

If your apps are installed on another drive, you shouldn't have any space issues at all. I ran my corporate laptop with a 64 GB SSD in it, so I had no where else to install apps, yet I was only using half of the drive.

Thanks....

I do have one large app that I haven't moved yet ( Adobe Production Premium CS5 ) because I'm in the middle of a video production project. Once that's finished, I 'll move it also.

Ah, and make sure that all the adobe app caches are on a secondary drive too, those can get quite large.
