Can I delete these programs?

My new computer came with Microsoft Silverlight and Windows Live. I have no idea what these programs do nor can I figure how to use them. Can I just delete them?

Hello there, Microsoft Silverlight allows you to see animated content online, it's Microsoft's response to Adobe Shockwave/Flash (somebody please correct me if i'm wrong)

And Windows Live features: Windows Live Messenger, Movie Maker, Windows Live Mail, and others.

I suggest try to configure them, don't delete them unless you're not using them. and i'm sure you'll use them at least once :)
