I got curious... and well, installed Ubuntu. I dont know any code, google has helped a lot so far... But I was wondering if I could revert back to Windows 7? My laptop came stock with Windows 7 (HP G60). If I make a live boot usb, can I install 7 onto my computer? and will I need another product key, or would it find it in my system somewhere?? please help... I miss windows 7....

If you did not delete the hidden "Factory Restore" partition when you installed Ubantu, you should be able to do a full restore right from the Laptop itself. Be sure to backup your data first as it will get overwritten.
The following link shows how to do a Factory Restore for your model.

Why would you overwrite both your OS partition AND your Recovery partition with a Linux install, especially when the Product Key isn't readable to do a Clean Reinstall? Reckless any?

Find out first what remains of the wreckage by booting free Partition Wizard bootable CD as we might be able to salvage the OS or Recovery if either still remain. Post back a camera snap of drive map after booting CD. How to Boot A Computer from CD or DVD - YouTube

Try again to run HP System Recovery . If it won't boot from its hotkey then try marking its partition Active to reboot to try again: Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two)

If these fail you can order Recovery Disks from HP Support, or go ahead to Clean Reinstall and see if MS will activate it via Phone Activation with the part of the key you can read and other info they use to determine authenticity. This works about half the time.

Don't suppose you made a set of Recovery DVD'S from the laptop when you bought it!!! First thing anyone with a new laptop should do.
The Product Key on the Windows label on the bottom of the machine is 25 charactors long as in
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx. Is the label gone or Product Key worn off or what.

As a worst case, you can go on HP's website, find your model and order a set of Recovery DVD's.
