I have a Windows 7 PC at home that several of us use all throughout the day.

I would like to start using different logon sessions for each family member.

We also have our own programs, etc that we have running all day and so we all are happy with the concurrent logon feature (being able to switch accounts is great).

However, I would like to have the machine boot up with multiple accounts logged in.

That is, when the system starts up, user1, user2 and user3 are all logged in and their startup programs are running. It would be nice to specify which user is active on the terminal, but that's not critical.

Can this be done? Can you launch a background login from another session on non-server windows?

Thank you. That autologs you onto one account. I would like to have the system log on to more than one.

Hi ultralame. That's not possible in win 7 on one machine. Only one user can be logged in at a time.

Are you sure? Right now I have two users logged in, and you can switch between users (not concurrent remote sessions, just two active sessions switched back and forth).

You are correct, you can have more than one user logged on and then switch between the sessions. I am not 100% certain that any programs that are running will remain running when you switch. I don't know what the limit is on the number of the sessions.

I have used this with an admin account and a restricted account which worked fine.

I don't believe that there is any way to automatically log on multiple users without going to each session and logging in.

Yes, switching between users when Fast User Switching is enabled allows one to switch back and forth without logging out, leaving programs running at each account, but that is not what you're asking.

To clarify, 2 users cannot be logged in and active at the same time, and you can't auto-login two users at once, one active, one accessible by switching (AFAIK).

This, however, may be close to an acceptable alternative (sans multiple auto-login):
