I have copied my present system disk onto a new disk, assuming that it would be able to boot. Can this be added at this stage without out having to reformat the disk as a system disk? The former took a considerable time, so if possible I don't want to have to do this again.

I thought I was cloning the disk, I used DriveImage XML disk to disk, but the disk only says it it is an Active, Primary Partition.

Unplug all other HD's, boot into Installation DVD to run Startup Repair - Run up to 3 Separate Times
until it starts on its own and holds the System flag showing the System boot files are intact and working.

You can then plug back in the other HD's, control which is booting using BIOS Boot order and BIOS Boot menu.
