Hello, I'm using Chrome as my standard browser, but my university is using a very special online program for some testing, that I can't seem to make the plugins work and install properly on chrome.
So what I was wondering is, is there any way I can make a shortcut, that opens a URL in internet explorer. Rather then opens it in the standard browser?

Do you have a 32bit or 64bit OS? Your specs don't say. :-(

right click in the desktop, select New and then Shortcut

paste this in to start the 32bit IE on a 32bit OS:
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" http://www.sevenforums.com
or this - to start the 32bit IE on a 64bit OS:
Code:
"C:\Program Files[B](x86)[/B]\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" http://www.sevenforums.com
If for some reason you cannot get that to work...
...you can create a regular shortcut with just the web address
...open IE
...then drag/drop that regular shortcut into the body of IE

you could try using firefox, open the url in firefox and then drag the favicon on the url bar to the desktop ,this will create a firefox shortcut for that url, you could then drag it from the desktop to the taskbar to pin it to the or place it elsewhere,
if you keep it on the desktop and want it to look different, then right click it and select properties there will be a change icon button ,click it and browse to an icon of your choosing.
for some reason i cant get it to keep the changed icon when its pinned to taskbar, i think it may work if i create a shortcut to the shortcut then change the icon ,.....

nope that didnt work, ok it seems to have an icon on the shortcut then dont pin it to taskbar.

I have a 64bit OS, however this laptop which is what I'll primarily use for that particular program is 32bit. The shortcut worked, so thanks ;)
