Can I program keys to open programs that are run by WP, QP and Nuance.

I need to cut and paste several scanned lists to a Quattro pro file via Nuance PDF Convertor (for it's OCR). Wordperfect will also be in the mix. These tasks are repitishes in nature with human intervention to select and paste the selections. There fore I will be going back and forth accomplishing the task. If I had several HotKeys to open the various files the task would be a lot easier. How do I assign a hotkey to a particular file?

I have been trying this and that. The latest try was to create a shortcut of a QP file. Took ownership and created "everyone" as a user with full priveledges. Entered CTRL....ALT.....Q as the Hotkey to the short cut. The Hotkey will NOT open the file. However, if I double click the shortcut the file opens as expected. Why won't the Hotkey work?
