Can I Set a User to Auto Login After X Seconds?

For my HTPC I would like to have 2 user options at startup. If no user is selected within 7 seconds I would like the system to automatically log into one of the two user accounts. I have seen this feature used in Linux Mint, but have no idea how to set it up in Win7. Neither of the two accounts have passwords, so this would not be any more of a security issue.

AFAIK you can either set it to auto log-on to one account or none.

The other option would be having 2 choices in the bootloader, as there is no NTOS Kernel switch to define this it would mean having 2 OS's, boot timeout set to 7, autologon for the default or manual selection for the other (which could also auto-logon if you wished) a very tiedious means of achiving your goal, and would hinder user switching greatly.

Windows does not have this functionality built in. However, it can of course be solved by some trickery. Basically you would have to launch a service a startup, that can interact with the desktop (and session that the user is performing login from). So what you need is something that start in session 0 at the desktop Service-0x0-3e7$\default, and can interact with session X where the Logon UI exist (also known as winsta0\Winlogon).

For a proof of concept, check out something I made called RunAtWinlogon; RunAtWinlogon - reboot.pro This tool serves you a LocalSystem cmd if a certain hotkey is pressed. Of course it could be modified to do more (like ScreenCap2Gui at the end of the post), or simply what OP is requesting. So since source is provided, use it for whatever..
