Can I undo changes to pictures and images or restore these files?

I did something stupid. I was editing, altering some photos in Paint and forgot that some of these photos were images that I had used in some videos that I was making. Now, because I've edited, made changes to these photos, my video editor crashes when I try to open videos that I was working on. It says it can't find the files. Is there any way to undo the changes I made to the picture files? I don't think System Restore will undo changes to those types of files. My video editor is VSDC.

What changes did you make me resize, contrast. Don't suppose you have Google photos installed with that they will be backed up on Google photos. If you don't have it then it's worth doing as soon as you put photos on HD Google backs them up and you get unlimited storage

There is another long shot: download and create a USB or DVD portable of Piriform's Recuva or anything similar that you are familiar with. Search for all files having the names and extensions (example: CatIn*.mp3 CatIn*.wav etc) and save everything appearing to be recoverable onto external media. You might find an older un-altered file or two of each title.

Thanks for the replies, guys! It turns out that I may have been wrong about changes I made to photos causing the problem. I spent several hours going through all of the files that I altered. I compared the time and date that I edited the photos to the last known time and date that VSDC worked. It looks like the video editor was still working after I made the changes to the picture files. I went back into the video editor and realized that it tells me which files it can't find. The files that it can't find are files that I haven't touched in several months. I looked everywhere I can think of and can't find them. Now I'm wondering about something.

In mid-January, I downloaded a program called Drive Adviser. I couldn't get the program to work. I tried it several times. Finally, I gave up and uninstalled it. Could that program have anything to do with this problem with my video editor and the missing files?

There are a lot of programs out there that claim all sorts of things - most are no more than "snake oil" I do not know Drive Adviser, so cannot specifically comment on it's value or faults, but I would not be surprised to find that it is the cause of your issues. As you know where the missing files were stored, you may want to check out if something like Recuva , which is well trusted and has been around for a long time, can help

Note when installing any free program always choose the advanced type of install rather than the quick type, and check any checkboxes for other items are not ticked - this is to prevent the installation of other add on programs ;)

It's important to quickly create that USB or DVD boot of any one or more data recovery utilities, boot said utility, and do the quick and deep scans necessary to recover the recoverable! The more you use Windows, the more that OS writes and writes and writes, endangering more and more any data recovery possibility.
