Can I use Malwarebytes PRO alongside Comodo Internet Security?

Hey you guys, I just installed Comodo Internet Security and Malwarebytes PRO, but for now i have real-time protection for Malwarewbytes disabled til I am sure I can run it with CIS. So the question is can I run MBAM PRO with CIS without any issues?

Hi MaxPayne,

The short answer to your question is yes, if you disable Realtime Protection on CIS. You should only ever have one Real time protection scanner on at a time as they tend to fight each other. Occasionally one of them will just roll over and disable itself to stop conflicts, but still the point stands. One Realtime scanner only.

Although.. having said that. It has been a while since I used Comodo, but I seem to remember that "Defense+" quite happily coexisted along MSE.

I'd try it and see what happens if you can't get a definitive answer.

I can tell you that Malwarebytes Pro does NOT interfere at all with Microsoft Security Essentials.

MB Pro is designed to work with other AV in real time mode. I have Norton IS 2011 and MB Pro both running real time with no problems. Don't know about Comodo as I have never used it.

I have been running CIS and MalwareBytes together for a year without any problems, although, Malwarebytes had an issue when it updated one time, where the realtime protection made me feel like I had a virus the way it slowed down my machine and they did not fix it for awile, I disabled it and my machine ran perfect again, but the problem is fixed with the malwarebytes update they released before the last one, so I have it enabled again for some months now!

I almost feel as though I dont need it though, haven't had a single popup! and Scan results are always clean.

You can run both without issues. MBAM was designed to be a compliment to all AV's, not a replacement. It's true that you don't want two AV's running at the same time, but MBAM is not a conventional AV. Also, leave the Comodo AV set to stateful, as on access will have a seriously negative impact on system performance.

oh ok thanks , however im just wondering whats the difference, is stateful as secure as on access?

Yes, Stateful is plenty secure. It balances security with performance.

Hi Max,

Using CIS in full really minimizes any conflicts that may arise on some of the apps that you will use. What CIS version are you using by the way? You might be interested in THIS.

MBAM had an issue before and it was advised in the Comodo forums (by a developer/mod..I remembered that specifically) to disable realtime protection for MBAM Pro. I do not know if it's still the case or it has been fixed already. I can't remember the thread but a newbie asked that question there once( I think that was around May or April 2011)..

Once tried the full suite and the paid(still have a full year here) but I preferred the AV of Avast instead but that's just me I tried that with MBAM Pro and observed that I did not need MBAM Pro in realtime anyway as D+ takes care of it. From there even if I have MBAM Pro I use it as on-demand now in my other systems with other combinations.
