Just to clarify:
1) You are trying to Clean Reinstall the licensed OS on the laptop which is Win7 Home Premium Japanese language, correct?.
Correct. but i cannot get an ISO of Windows 7 (in Japanese) without paying Windows 8.1 prices.
2) Then you want to input the Ultimate Anytime Upgrade key to unlock the English Language pack again?
Correct.
The Key probably only works with the Japanese version (but its another Microsoft secret for now).
3) And: you have tried reinstalling Home Premium English and it will not activate with the Home Premium Japanese key on the COA sticker, correct?
Tried a hundred times. Including full re-installs.
4) Sometimes if you call back into MS Support you will get the help you need. Have you tried that?
Yes.
After I gave them all the details, and told them what I think the problem is, Microsoft eventually admitted the English W7 Home Premium ISO kicks up a Product ID that does not match the Japanese Windows 7 home Premium KEY (on the back of the laptop).
Thus it is language locked.
Microsoft told me I cannot have the software I have paid the license for and if I want windows 7 Home Premium, I should get it from Toshiba.
Then after I pointed out that the laptop is out of warranty, and told them Toshiba had said `they will not supply it` `and told me to go to Microsoft for it`, Microsoft Japan just said they `don`t supply it` and put the phone down on me.
I called Toshiba again (told them what Microsoft told me ect), and they said they dont supply/upload/sell ISO, nor do they provide/sell boot-Repair discs to anyone, especially out of warranty; and they told me to go back to Microsoft for the windows 7 Home Premium (unless I want to send the laptop to Toshiba, and they will replace my SSD with a standard HDD with Windows 7 Home Premium on it for $350).
$350.
For my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium I already should be able to get as I already own the license. Its the two companies shirking accountability and leaving every customer in Japan in the same position in a "Catch 22" position. Because people here very rarely complain about anything ever. I was on the phone around 2 hours with Microsoft and two half-hour sessions with Toshiba trying to find a solution (not just for me).
They both know about the issue for a long time; and both of them do nothing about it. I had the same question with them last year when Windows 8 came out (I bought the first copy), when I stuck it on the same laptop instead when this issue again arose for me. But would like to use the DSP? Win8 on my new home-built back-up work/gaming desktop PC now.
Please answer each of the questions above while you wait for SIW2's help with your box files.
Done a couple of times now.
Anyway, its the principle of the thing that bugs me.
Note how fast they get the lawyers out if someone shortchanges them.
