Can multiple versions of IE

I have a windows 7 machine with IE10 on it and when connecting my work site they use a cisco VPN service but was told it will only work with a older version of IE8 or I can not log in, so here is my question, can I add another version of IE on my machine it would have to be IE8 and would it cause any problems and where would I get it from or do I have to use a virtual machine?

Hi,
Not unless you have win-7 professional and x-p so you can use x-p mode,

Another alternative is to use the F12 key to open developer tools,
Click on Browser mode and switch to ie8,
As long as you don't open links/ windows in another tab the ie8 browser mode will/ should stick,

NO I tried the F12 trick and I have to click on the accounting area which opens another window and log in, then the F12 wont work,, so I can have to use win7 pro.. I do have copys of all win 7 pro and even win xp..

If I create a virtual xp machine what version of IE will it have?

No F12 will not because I sign in one time then I have to click on a link that opens a new window and new login area..

I have a older XP machine I just checked , it has IE7

You can get IE8 for XP here,

Download Internet Explorer 8 from Official Microsoft Download Center

If this is going to be an ongoing thing for work, you would be better off just using a win 7 virtual machine and don't update the original browser (IE8) to anything newer.

XP was originally released with IE 6 but is also compatible with IE 7 and IE 8. Windows 7 is compatible with IE 8 and later. Internet explorer is not just an application but is essentially part of the OS. Multiple versions of installed IE have never been supported.

Hi in ie11 ctrl+P unpins developer tools from the percent windows so you can move out of the way and continue on working on the same browser mode,
I wouldn't think ctrl+P would be needed in ie10 because it can be minimized without loosing the current browser mode switch,
But what been stated by others should verify vm might be your only solution,
Although x-p mode would be more secure I'm not exactly sure how it would work or if it would come with ie8 as an option to use in x-p mode ?
Two step sign in really has complicated the process so much that you'd need to add this Very out of date verification site to comp-view or the company really needs to accommodate for another browser or ultimately update their sign in process completely,

There is the IE collection. It is not completely stable as it is meant for testing. It apparently plays with dlls to allow using various versions as stand alone
